Connecting Cultures through Gastronomy:
UIT Student Embarks on an International Journey in Thailand
What happens when an Information Technology student steps beyond the classroom and laboratory to immerse themselves in an international academic environment? For Chau The Vi, a student from the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), the answer came through his participation in the PSU-AUN Summer Camp 2026, hosted by Prince of Songkla University, Thailand.
Với chủ đề "Taste of Southern Thailand: Connecting Cultures through Gastronomy", chương trình mang đến cơ hội để sinh viên từ nhiều quốc gia cùng học tập, nghiên cứu và khám phá những giá trị văn hóa, kinh tế và phát triển bền vững thông qua ẩm thực.
Từ các hoạt động workshop về đổi mới sáng tạo, tư duy thiết kế, khảo sát doanh nghiệp cộng đồng, nghiên cứu hệ sinh thái tự nhiên đến phát triển ý tưởng sản phẩm từ nguồn nguyên liệu bản địa, mỗi trải nghiệm đều giúp sinh viên tiếp cận những góc nhìn mới về mối liên hệ giữa công nghệ, văn hóa và phát triển bền vững.
Không chỉ học tập, đây còn là cơ hội để sinh viên UIT kết nối với bạn bè quốc tế, rèn luyện kỹ năng làm việc nhóm đa văn hóa, tư duy toàn cầu và khả năng thích ứng trong môi trường quốc tế.
Đặc biệt, tại đêm tổng kết chương trình, bạn Châu Thế Vĩ cùng các thành viên trong nhóm quốc tế đã trình bày dự án trước hội đồng học thuật, góp phần lan tỏa hình ảnh sinh viên UIT năng động, tự tin và sẵn sàng hội nhập.
Under the theme “Taste of Southern Thailand: Connecting Cultures through Gastronomy,” the program brought together students from different countries to learn, conduct research, and explore cultural values, local economies, and sustainable development through the lens of food and gastronomy. Through a series of activities—including workshops on innovation and design thinking, community enterprise visits, ecosystem studies, and product development based on local ingredients—participants gained new perspectives on the connections between technology, culture, and sustainability.Beyond academic learning, the program provided an invaluable opportunity for UIT students to connect with peers from around the world, strengthen cross-cultural teamwork skills, develop a global mindset, and enhance their adaptability in international settings. A highlight of the program came during the closing session, when Chau The Vi and his international teammates presented their project before an academic panel, showcasing the dynamism, confidence, and global readiness of UIT students.
Every journey not only broadens knowledge but also expands one’s worldview. This spirit reflects the aspirations of today’s UIT students—to embrace new experiences, build meaningful connections, and confidently step onto the global stage to learn, grow, and create positive impacts for the community.
