University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UIT) is now accepting applications for the second round of the 2026 International Internship Program at the National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan.
Three positions are available for Master’s and PhD students currently enrolled at UIT, offering participants an opportunity to experience an international research environment, work alongside researchers, and further develop their research interests in information technology.

From UIT to an international research environment
For postgraduate students, an international research internship offers more than the experience of studying at a new institution. It provides an opportunity to explore different research methodologies, engage in academic exchange, and build professional connections with researchers from around the world.
In this application round, candidates may select up to three topics from the list of research areas announced by NII. Applicants are expected to proactively identify research topics that align with their interests and provide evidence that they have contacted a professor at NII.
This requirement encourages students to take initiative from the very beginning: identifying the research questions they want to pursue, finding suitable research groups, and connecting with researchers whose expertise matches their interests. These are also essential skills for Master’s and PhD students seeking to participate more actively in the international research community.
Expanding academic opportunities for UIT postgraduate students
The continued implementation of the International Internship Program at NII extends UIT’s education and research opportunities beyond campus.
Participants can bring the knowledge and research experience they have developed at UIT into a different academic environment while gaining exposure to new approaches, methodologies, and research directions.
Such experiences are particularly valuable in postgraduate education, where becoming a researcher requires more than specialized knowledge. Academic communication, international collaboration, and the ability to participate in broader research networks are equally important.
Through international exchange and research internship programs, UIT continues to create opportunities for Master’s and PhD students to strengthen their research capabilities, expand their academic networks, and become more deeply engaged with the global scientific community.
