On the afternoon of May 21, 2026, the UIT Talk session titled “Unmasking Today’s Online Scam Tactics” was held at Hall E of the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), attracting the participation of a large number of students.

As online scams become increasingly sophisticated and widespread, the program provided practical insights delivered by Mr. Ngo Khanh Khoa, M.Sc., from the Information Security Laboratory. During the session, students were introduced to common fraud schemes, including fake “high-paying easy jobs,” phishing links, impersonation of authorities, account takeovers, online lending scams, and personal data theft.

 

Participants were also equipped with essential knowledge to recognize warning signs, protect their accounts and personal information, safeguard digital assets, and respond appropriately when encountering suspicious activities or becoming victims of cyber fraud. The interactive Q&A session encouraged students to share real-life experiences and receive practical advice from the speaker.

More than just a soft-skills seminar, UIT Talk served as a timely reminder of the importance of cyber awareness and responsible Internet use. Through such initiatives, UIT continues to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

The event contributes to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on Quality Education by promoting digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness among young people.
