Experts Discuss ICT Workforce Training in the Age of AI

Experts discussed the latest trends in ICT training, particularly the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

On April 19th, the University of Information Technology – Vietnam National University HCMC, in collaboration with the Vietnam Information Technology – School - Institute Clubs (FISU Vietnam), organized the seminar titled "ICT Training in the Age of AI."

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Nguyễn Đức Hiển, Head of the Computer Science Department, University of Information Technology and Communications Viet - Han (University of Danang), noted that Vietnam’s AI market is rapidly growing and is expected to reach over 1.52 billion USD by 2030.

According to 2023 data, Vietnam has nearly 77 million internet and social media users, accounting for over 79% of the population, providing a favorable foundation for technology adoption and AI development.

With a young workforce and fast access to technology, Vietnam has many advantages to strongly develop AI in the coming years.

By 2030, generative AI is expected to contribute up to 14,000 billion VND to Vietnam’s digital economy.

Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Thủy, Chairman of the Information Technology Professorship Council, Chairman of the Vietnam Informatics Association, and Chairman of the Vietnam Information Technology – School - Institute Clubs (FISU Vietnam), emphasized that AI is gradually transforming all aspects of social life, compelling the ICT sector to innovate extensively. The sector must not only keep up with trends but also take a leading role in driving sustainable AI adoption.

Human resource training in ICT must be reoriented to effectively and responsibly support AI development, contributing to the creation of a humane and sustainable society.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Tú Anh, Rector of the University of Information Technology, highlighted the importance of the seminar as a platform for experts to share and discuss advanced directions in ICT training, focusing on the practical application of AI in education and training.

At the event, experts and scientists analyzed various aspects of AI application in education, including training connected with businesses, supporting foreign language learning, and improving university management.
