The 8th International Conference on Multimedia Analysis and Pattern Recognition (MAPR 2025) was successfully organized by the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), in collaboration with the Vietnam Association on Pattern Recognition (VAPR), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), and the Institute of Information Technology (IOIT). The event took place on August 14–15, 2025 in the beautiful coastal city of Nha Trang, Vietnam.

With IEEE as the Technical Sponsor and the proceedings indexed by Scopus (with accepted papers available on the IEEE Xplore Digital Library), MAPR 2025 attracted broad interest from the research community, MAPR 2025 attracted strong interest from the international research community. The conference gathered scholars, researchers, and students from countries including the United States, France, South Korea, India, Belgium, and Vietnam

This year, the conference received 135 submissions, reflecting the dynamic growth of research in multimedia and AI. After a rigorous review process, 67 high-quality papers were selected for presentation and publication in the official proceedings. The accepted works were organized into six oral sessions:
- Session 1: Computer Vision for Detection, Recognition, and Segmentation (12 papers)
- Session 2: Vision–Language Models and Multimedia Retrieval (12 papers)
- Session 3: Tracking and Activity Recognition (10 papers)
- Session 4: AI in Healthcare and Medical Imaging (10 papers)
- Session 5: Speech, Language, and Multimodal Interaction (11 papers)
- Session 6: Cybersecurity and Blockchain (12 papers)

The conference was honored to welcome distinguished keynote speakers:
- Prof. Kang-Hyun Jo (University of Ulsan, South Korea) – Vision-Based AI and DX Service, presenting applications of computer vision in smart transportation, rescue systems, and high-tech agriculture.
- Prof. Ngai-Man Cheung (Singapore University of Technology and Design – SUTD) – Model Inversion in Deep Neural Networks, focusing on data security in machine learning.
- Prof. Hiep Q. Luong (Ghent University, Belgium) – Sensor Fusion Applications, highlighting sensor fusion in complex environments such as autonomous driving and UAV surveillance.
In addition to oral sessions, poster sessions provided a vibrant academic exchange platform, enabling young researchers to present their ideas and receive valuable feedback from experts.

The conference also recognized outstanding contributions with prestigious awards:
Best Paper Award
Le Cong Thuong, Le Thu Phuong, Dang Minh Hang, Hang Son Tung, Le Thanh Ha -VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET)
“HySUP: Seam-Aware Hand-Body Fusion for Accurate Whole-Body 3D Reconstruction from a Single Image”
