Opening Ceremony of the English Communication Training Course for Lecturers, Staff, and Employees at UIT
On the morning of October 8, the University of Information Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UIT) held the opening ceremony of the English Communication Training Course for its lecturers, staff, and employees.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mai Van Cuong, Head of the Office of Organization and Administration; Ms. Vo Thi Thanh Ly, Deputy Director of the Center for Foreign Languages; and Mr. Oronde N. Freeman, the course instructor.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Mai Van Cuong emphasized:
“In today’s era of globalization, especially in the field of information technology, English is no longer a mere option but an essential tool. Our university is expanding international cooperation, academic exchanges, and welcoming numerous foreign experts and partners. The ability of our staff to communicate confidently in English contributes significantly to enhancing work efficiency, professionalizing administrative processes, and fostering a dynamic, internationally integrated working environment. This course focuses on practical communication, enabling participants to immediately apply what they learn to their daily work.”

The training course, taking place from October to December, is supported by the English Language Fellow Program 2025–2026 of the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, exclusively for UIT. The program aims to equip participants with essential English communication skills for everyday professional interactions while offering opportunities to practice with native-speaking instructors—thereby enhancing their practical language proficiency in both academic and workplace contexts.
Upon completion, participants who attend at least 80% of the total course hours and pass all required assessments will receive a Certificate of Course Completion. The course also encourages active classroom participation and consistent communication practice to help learners build confidence and fluency in English.
This training program represents one of UIT’s key initiatives to strengthen English proficiency among its academic and administrative staff, fostering a professional, modern, and globally integrated working environment.
