UIT NewsFrom AI and Quantum to Game Development: How UIT and Industry Partners Are Shaping the Next Generation of Tech Talent
In an era where technology evolves at unprecedented speed, the traditional boundaries between academia and industry are rapidly disappearing. Tomorrow’s engineers, researchers, and technology leaders are no longer shaped solely through textbooks, but through hands-on projects, advanced laboratories, and close collaboration with industry. At the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), this philosophy is being realized through an innovation-driven ecosystem that integrates education, applied research, and the evolving needs of the digital economy. During the first months of 2026 alone, UIT launched a series of strategic partnerships spanning artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technologies, cybersecurity, and the game industry, creating new opportunities for students to learn, conduct research, and develop their careers.AI Lab UIT & AvePoint: Bringing a Global Technology Environment Closer to StudentsIn March 2026, UIT and AvePoint officially signed an agreement to establish the AI Lab. Two months later, the AI Lab UIT & AvePoint was inaugurated on the 10th floor of Building E, becoming a collaborative hub for innovation and research for faculty members, students, and technology professionals.More than just a laboratory, the AI Lab is envisioned as a bridge between education and industry. It provides students with opportunities to access cutting-edge AI technologies, participate in real-world projects, receive mentorship from international experts, and explore internships and career opportunities within a global business environment.According to Associate Professor Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, President of the University of Information Technology:"We expect to see more joint training initiatives developed through this partnership, enabling students to access emerging technologies, international working processes, and the global corporate environment while they are still pursuing their studies."AI, Quantum Technologies, and Cybersecurity: Preparing for the Technologies of TomorrowContinuing its strategy of developing frontier technologies, UIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Quantum AI & Cyber Security Institute (QACI) of FPT Corporation in April 2026.The partnership focuses on three domains widely recognized as foundations of the next industrial revolution: artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and cybersecurity. Beyond being strategic technology trends, these areas are expected to generate substantial demand for highly skilled professionals in the years ahead.Through this collaboration, UIT students and researchers will gain greater opportunities to participate in research activities, product development, and practical technology challenges, thereby strengthening their capacity for innovation and enhancing their international competitiveness.Collaborating with VNGGames and Roblox: Opening the Door to the Global Game IndustryThe year 2026 also marked an important milestone for UIT in the digital creative industry. In collaboration with VNGGames, and with the support of Roblox Global and the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, UIT launched a co-training program in game development on the Roblox platform.Designed around a project-based learning model, the program enables students to engage directly in the entire game development lifecycle, from ideation and design to production and deployment.A distinctive feature of the program is that each student team develops and owns its own game product and has the opportunity to publish it directly on the Roblox platform. This allows students to access international markets and participate in the rapidly expanding global digital creative economy.According to Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director General of the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, developing talent for the game industry requires close collaboration among government agencies, universities, and enterprises, with industry playing a critical role in providing practical environments that connect learners with technology and market demands.Building the Education Ecosystem of the FutureFrom AI and quantum technologies to cybersecurity and game development, the partnerships established throughout 2026 demonstrate UIT’s long-term commitment to building an educational model closely connected with industry and applied research.Rather than waiting until graduation for students to encounter real-world challenges, UIT is bringing industry environments, emerging technologies, and practical problems directly into the learning process. Every laboratory, partnership, and research project becomes an "open classroom" where students learn through experience and grow alongside technological advancement. In the digital age, highly qualified human capital is created not only within university classrooms, but also through the synergy between government, academia, and industry. And this is precisely how UIT, together with its partners, is nurturing the next generation of engineers, researchers, and technology innovators who are ready to seize the opportunities of the future.
