From 23 to 25 June 2026, the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Fabien Ferrero from Université Côte d'Azur (France) for a series of academic and collaborative activities aimed at strengthening international research cooperation and innovation.Professor Fabien Ferrero is a faculty member at Université Côte d'Azur and a researcher at the Electronics, Antennas and Telecommunications Laboratory (LEAT). With more than two decades of experience, his research focuses on antenna design and measurement, radio-frequency technologies, and advanced wireless communication systems, including Massive MIMO and LPWAN/LoRa technologies.Beyond academia, Professor Ferrero is also the co-founder of ORB Instruments, a technology spin-off established from Université Côte d'Azur and LEAT, demonstrating a successful model of translating academic research into industrial innovation.During his visit to UIT, Professor Ferrero participated in seminars, academic discussions, and research exchanges with faculty members, researchers, and students. A major highlight of the visit was the installation and deployment of the ORB Mini Antenna Measurement System for the TTLab Research Group of the Faculty of Computer Engineering.  The ORB Mini is a compact Spherical Near-Field (SNF) antenna measurement system capable of accurately characterizing the three-dimensional radiation patterns of antennas. Supporting frequencies from 300 MHz to 8 GHz, the system can measure radio devices with diameters of up to 40 cm and weights of up to 5 kg. Equipped with 36 dual-polarized probes, the ORB Mini can complete a full antenna measurement and generate a 3D radiation pattern in less than one minute.As part of its global partnership program, ORB Instruments selected TTLab at the Faculty of Computer Engineering, UIT, as one of its academic partners and donated the ORB Mini system to the research group. This collaboration exemplifies how university-born technology enterprises can effectively partner with academic research groups to advance applied research, technology transfer, and innovation.Beyond supporting research, the ORB Mini system also plays a significant role in education by providing students and faculty members with hands-on experience using professional antenna measurement equipment, complementing theoretical simulations. In collaboration with VNGGames, and with the support of Roblox Global and the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, UIT launched a co-training program in game development on the Roblox platform.Designed around a project-based learning model, the program enables students to engage directly in the entire game development lifecycle, from ideation and design to production and deployment.A distinctive feature of the program is that each student team develops and owns its own game product and has the opportunity to publish it directly on the Roblox platform. He has authored and co-authored 35 books/book chapters and 228 scientific publications, making significant contributions to the global research community.Beyond academia, he served as Vice President for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at the University of Lübeck (2016–2024), where he played a key role in connecting academia with industry and government, and promoting the commercialization of research outcomes.His research focuses on distributed systems, IoT, distributed AI, smart cities, and smart healthcare applications. UIT and VNGGames Sign Co-Training Partnership in Game Development:Pioneering High-Quality Talent for the Digital EraOn the morning of April 2, the University of Information Technology – VNU-HCM (UIT) officially signed a cooperation agreement with VNGGames to co-develop a Game Development Program on the Roblox platform. The event marks a significant milestone in strengthening university–industry collaboration in the technology sector.The ceremony welcomed distinguished representatives from the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, VNU-HCM, VNGGames, Roblox Global, and UIT leadership.Building a “Hands-on” Game Development EcosystemUnder the agreement, UIT and VNGGames will implement a series of key initiatives, most notably a co-training program in game development on Roblox, with support from the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information.As a strategic partner, Roblox will not only provide its technology platform but also contribute to shaping a creative ecosystem for young game developers in Vietnam.Assoc. The 2026 “Red Study and Research Journey for Vietnamese Youth in China” is therefore not only an experiential trip, but also an integral part of UIT’s comprehensive education strategy, aligned with its “Global Reach” vision. On the final day of the journey, the UIT delegation—led by Assoc. Prof. Vu Duc Lung—participated in a series of meaningful academic and practical activities in Hebei Province, China.From Ecological Spaces to Sustainable Development PerspectivesIn the morning, the delegation visited Baiyangdian, the largest freshwater wetland in northern China and a key ecological center within the Xiong’an New Area.At Yannan Embankment Park, UIT students experienced a well-designed green space featuring interconnected lakes, diverse vegetation, and thoughtfully planned pedestrian pathways. The harmonious integration of nature and modern infrastructure provided a clear perspective on sustainable urban development.Beyond its scenic value, the area functions as a “green lung,” contributing to ecological balance and improving quality of life—demonstrating a forward-looking approach to sustainability in urban planning.Smart Cities – Where Technology Shapes Urban LifeContinuing the program, the delegation visited Xiong’an New Area, a strategic project envisioned as a “city of the future.”Here, advanced technologies such as intelligent transportation systems, IoT sensors, centralized data management, and artificial intelligence are seamlessly integrated to optimize urban operations.A key highlight was the visit to the China Telecom smart city model, where technologies including 5G, cloud computing, big data, and AI are applied in real-time management of traffic, environment, energy, and public services. This provided UIT students with valuable insights into how technology is implemented at scale in real-world systems.Farewell Gala – Connection and Cultural ExchangeThe journey concluded with a farewell gala held in a warm and vibrant atmosphere. This was an opportunity for participating delegations to reflect on their experiences, engage in cultural exchange, and strengthen collaborative ties.Performances by Vietnamese universities brought dynamic and diverse cultural expressions to the event. UIT students left a strong impression with their creative and energetic performance, particularly the act ““The frog at the bottom of the well” which showcased humor, creativity, and confidence.During the program, Mr. Tran Hoang Loc, Deputy Secretary of the UIT Youth Union, delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the organizers and highlighting the significance of the journey in strengthening Vietnam–China friendship and empowering youth in international cooperation.His reflections—from historical experiences in Kunming to modern technological achievements in Hebei—conveyed a powerful message about a generation that is proactive, confident, and ready to integrate globally.Closing the Journey – Opening Global OpportunitiesUnder the leadership of Assoc.
