"Before giving up, remember the reason you started." - This is the favorite quote of Thai Minh Triet, an outstanding graduate in the field of Data Science in 2023 with a GPA of 9.01.
Reaping the "sweet fruit" after much effort
Minh Triet feels happy and honored because his efforts and dedication during his time at the university have been rewarded appropriately, making him one of the outstanding graduates in the field of Data Science at UIT.

Talking about the fate that led him to the VNUHCM - University of Information Technology, Triet shared that UIT was one of the few institutions offering Data Science in Vietnam at that time. He said, "I chose UIT because it is a member of VNUHCM, which has a reputable history in higher education and scientific research. The dynamic and innovative learning environment at UIT suited me well." After studying for several years at the university, Minh Triet expressed that, despite being a relatively new field, the training program for Data Science was well-structured, introducing advanced techniques in data science and artificial intelligence in specialized courses. Particularly, the lecturers were enthusiastic, always encouraging and providing opportunities for students to conduct research and publish scientific papers.
Before graduating with honors, Minh Triet had achieved many admirable accomplishments: publishing 4 scientific papers, where he was the main author in 3 papers, including 2 papers in category B and 2 papers indexed in Scopus; winning the third prize in the Multilingual Question Answering on Image Content (EVJVQA) competition at the Vietnamese Language and Speech Processing workshop (VLSP 2022); winning the first prize in the MedVQA-GI 2023 competition at the Conference and Labs of the Evaluation Forum (CLEF 2023); and receiving the Pony Chung Scholarship in 2022.
Planning is the key factor in academic success
Sharing his study secrets for achieving good results, Minh Triet emphasized that, regardless of the field, passion and interest in the subject are crucial for determination and motivation. "Mastering the basic knowledge is the key factor, even the most basic knowledge is valuable as a foundation for future specialization. Planning for each semester and the entire course is also essential to ensure effective study progress and avoid missing important knowledge," said the outstanding graduate in Data Science.

The academic success is notable, but the male student has faced challenges in adapting to changes in learning and group work methods. Triet understands that this is the common goal of UIT and other universities, aiming to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the job requirements after graduation.
Regarding future plans, Minh Triet expressed that he would continue his education and research in postgraduate studies in the field of data science in bioinformatics, applying data science and AI achievements to solve health problems and improve human quality of life.
