After three months of intense competition, the closing ceremony and prize distribution for the Artificial Intelligence Challenge (AI Challenge) in Ho Chi Minh City 2023 took place on the evening of October 18th at Tan Son Nhat Pavillon Hotel, as part of the National Digital Transformation Week celebration on October 10th. VNUHCM-University of Information Technology showcased outstanding performance at the final night, achieving remarkable results in this year's competition.
With the theme "Event Querying from Visual Data," the competition aimed to provide a new and useful platform to encourage individuals, research teams, both nationally and internationally, to propose and enhance advanced solutions using Artificial Intelligence to solve significant real-world problems. "AI CHALLENGE 2023" was organized by the Department of Information and Communications with the collaboration of various entities, including Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Education and Training, the City Youth Union, the City Computer Science Association (HCA), the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), the City Business Association (HUBA), the Young Science and Technology Development Center, and Quang Trung Software City Development Company Limited (QTSC).
The closing ceremony was attended by notable figures such as Mr. Vo Minh Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Le Thanh Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Deputy Director of Department Science and Technology of VNU-HCM; Mr. Vu Quang - Deputy CEO of Quang Trung Software Park Development Company Limited; Mrs. Tran Thu Ha - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Students' Association in Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Canh – Vice President of VNUHCM- International University, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Minh Triet - Vice President of VNUHCM - University of Science; Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang – Vice President of VNUHCM-University of Information Technology; Mr. Nguyen Tat Toan - Member of the Standing Committee of the Youth Union, Head of the School Youth Union, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Students' Association in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Doan Kim Thanh - Director of the Youth Science and Technology Development Center; Dr. Ngo Duc Thanh - Dean of Faculty of Computer Science, VNUHCM-University of Information Technology, Deputy Chairman of the Judging Committee, along with the professors and teachers on the scientific council, joined the contestants at this year's competition.

Speaking about the significance of this year's competition, Mr. Vo Minh Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, stated: "This competition holds tremendous importance in nurturing talent for artificial intelligence research and applications across all fields and sectors. Through this competition, we hope to ignite a passion for research and learning about artificial intelligence among all students, helping them to orient their careers in the field of artificial intelligence specifically and digital technology in general."
The Dionysus team (including Tran Gia Bao, Bui Cong Khanh Tuong, Tran Nhat Khoa, Luu Trung Kiet) won the first prize at "AI CHALLENGE 2023".
Throughout the competition, the teams from University of Information Technology demonstrated exceptional skills and received much praise from the judging panel. In the end, the University of Information Technology secured 1 First Prize, 2 Third Prizes, and 3 Encouragement Prizes. Specifically, the First Prize was awarded to Team Dionysus, consisting of Tran Gia Bao, Bui Cong Khanh Tuong, Tran Nhat Khoa, and Luu Trung Kiet. The two Third Prizes were awarded to Team Thanos, composed of Vo Minh Thanh, Tran Thi Ngoc Nhan, Bui Le Khanh Linh, and Vo Duy Ngoc, and Team Kronus, consisting of Tran Sieu, Nguyen Minh Duc, Nguyen Huynh Minh Triet, Nguyen Minh Thu, and Ngo Phuc Danh. The Encouragement Prizes were awarded to Team ELO@AIC, Team HaidiKichi, and Team W1_BLAZEWARRIORS.

Addressing the audience during the prize distribution ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Minh Triet – Vice President of VNUHCM-University of Science - noted, "What's special about this year's competition is the participation of high school students. This is a cause for celebration as these students have applied their knowledge to solve artificial intelligence algorithms. We hope that these young talents will continue to maintain and enhance this spirit. Through the competition, the participants were also guided on techniques for building systems to quickly search video segments based on demand, an application with vast potential for various fields such as healthcare and national security." Dr. Triet also added that the selected products of the students had been included in Scopus journals.

During the ceremony, the organizers awarded 24 prizes in total, including 15 prizes in Category A (for university students) - 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 3 Third Prizes, and 10 Encouragement Prizes; and 9 prizes in Category B (for high school students) - 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 3 Third Prizes, and 4 Encouragement Prizes. Particularly, in Category B, there were 4 potential prizes awarded to participating contestants.
