Over the years, students from the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (UIT) have continually proven their competence, determination, and position on the ICPC map – the world’s most prestigious programming arena for young coders. From regional contests to the international stage, UIT teams have left remarkable marks, spreading the spirit of academic excellence across the university community.

ICPC – A Global Playground for Young Programmers

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is the world’s oldest and most prestigious programming competition for university and college students. It serves as a global platform where students demonstrate their problem-solving abilities, algorithmic thinking, and programming expertise in a highly competitive environment.

For over 50 years, ICPC has become a symbol of intellect and technological innovation, offering students the opportunity to develop essential soft skills, strengthen technical knowledge, and affirm their global programming capabilities.

ICPC competitions are organized at multiple levels — from university, national, regional (continental) rounds to the World Finals. Each level challenges participants with complex algorithmic problems, demanding speed, precision, and optimal problem-solving strategies.

UIT’s Remarkable Achievements on the ICPC Stage

UIT teams have consistently been recognized for their steady performance and unwavering determination. Guided by experienced faculty mentors and supported by a dynamic academic environment, UIT contestants have achieved numerous milestones in both national and international ICPC contests.

  • 2020: At The 2020 ICPC Vietnam National Contest, team UIT.Meow solved 7 problems, securing Second Prize and ranking 8th overall. At the same year’s ICPC Asia Can Tho, team UIT.CBL earned the Silver Medal, ranking among the Top 18 teams in ICPC Asia 2020.

  • 2021: At ICPC Asia Hanoi Regional Contest, UIT teams continued their strong momentum, bringing home 4 awards, including 1 Second Prize and 3 Third Prizes.

  • 2022: UIT achieved outstanding results at ICPC Asia Ho Chi Minh City, winning 9 awards (3 Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes), while maintaining impressive performance at the 31st Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad and ICPC Asia 2022.

  • 2023: UIT made history at the 32nd Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad and ICPC 2023, winning both Silver and Bronze Super Cups – a testament to their consistent excellence.

  • 2024: UIT reached a new milestone when team UIT.KHQ.TheUnkillableDemonKing won the Gold Medal at ICPC Asia Regional Hanoi 2024, marking the university’s first-ever gold medal in the Asia-Pacific region. This breakthrough symbolizes UIT’s solid reputation in both the national and international ICPC communities.

  • 2025: Continuing the legacy, team VNUHCM.UIT.JobSeekers proudly earned the Bronze Medal at ICPC Asia Bangkok Regional Contest 2025, extending UIT’s streak of remarkable international achievements.
