Two final-year students have their scientific paper published in a Q1-ranked journal

Van Nguyen Ngoc Huyen and Le Viet Thinh are co-authors of the paper "Improving human-object interaction with auxiliary semantic information and enhanced instance representation," which has been accepted for publication in Pattern Recognition Letters, a Q1-ranked international journal specializing in Pattern Recognition.

Friends from the UITogether research group

Although they studied in the same Computer Science program, they got to know each other and started working together when they joined the UITogether research group.

Through their collaboration in the UITogether research group, they quickly realized each other's strengths, which complemented one another. They collaborated effectively, leveraging each other's knowledge and skills, creating a synergistic approach that enhanced the efficiency of their research projects.

Their collaboration began with exploring research topics, seeking advice from professors, seniors, and previous research groups. The idea of the "human-object interaction detection" problem, despite having practical applications, had limited research available. This sparked their curiosity, and they dedicated themselves to conducting research to explore new avenues for the UITogether group.

The research process was challenging, especially due to the novelty of the problem. They had to start from scratch, reading numerous materials to build a fundamental understanding. This extensive learning process demanded a significant amount of time, and balancing research and academic studies was a challenge they had to overcome.

However, with the support of their friends, they managed to balance their studies and research. Suggestions and feedback from their peers and senior members of the group helped them address various challenges during their research. With this collective support, Huyen and Thinh overcame difficulties and made significant progress in their research project.

Waiting for the result

After a period of intensive research, they achieved certain results. They spent many nights summarizing, analyzing, discussing, and meticulously refining their research work. Finally, they decided to submit the paper to the Pattern Recognition Letters journal for review. The paper underwent a thorough review process by experts and colleagues in the field to assess its validity, uniqueness, and contribution.

The wait during the review process was nerve-wracking, but they were overjoyed when their paper was accepted.

"I was very excited and proud when our paper was published in a Q1-ranked journal. Besides the excitement, this achievement also reminds me to continue striving and putting in more effort on the next journey. I hope that this paper will have a positive impact on the research community in the related field," shared Huyen.

Sharing the same sense of happiness, Thinh expressed, "Having a paper published in a Q1-ranked journal is truly a significant achievement in my personal development. It encourages me to continue my passion for research, exploring to solve more interesting and valuable problems."

UIT: Nurturing Research Enthusiasm

Despite their impressive achievements, both Huyen and Thinh remain humble, attributing their success to the guidance of their dedicated professors and the enthusiastic support from their friends.

Thinh highly values the infrastructure and faculty at UIT. The investments in facilities, libraries, laboratories, and modern study materials have created a favorable environment for learning and research. UIT has a dedicated team of lecturers and staff who provide wholehearted support. Thinh expressed his gratitude, saying, "We sincerely thank Mr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, the founder of UITogether, who has created an inspirational learning and working environment, encouraging us to develop our research and creativity. Additionally, we express our gratitude to Mr. Vo Duy Nguyen, who has provided guidance and shared fundamental knowledge during our initial steps."
