UIT and VNG Affirm the Effectiveness of the “Learning by Doing” Model in Training High-Quality IT Human Resources
On the afternoon of 21 January 2026, the Closing Ceremony of the UIT x VNG Co-Training Project 2025 for the course SE116 – Applied Game Programming Skills Development was officially held at VNG Campus. The event marked a meaningful learning and hands-on journey for students of the University of Information Technology (UIT), who had the opportunity to directly engage with a professional working environment at a leading technology enterprise.
Representing Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) were Dr. Nguyen Thai Binh Long, Deputy Head of the Office of External Relations and Project Development, and Dr. Duong Ton Thai Duong, Deputy Head of the Office of Academic Affairs. Representing UIT were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, Vice President in charge, and Dr. Do Trong Hop, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Software Engineering. From VNG, attendees included Mr. Le Hong Minh, Founder and Chairman of VNG Corporation; Mr. Nguyen Khanh Trung, Director of Online Game Development, ZingPlay Game Studios; and Mr. Nguyen Vu Tien, Deputy Director of Online Game Development, ZingPlay Game Studios.

The course represents a concrete implementation of the university–industry–research collaboration strategy, in line with the directive to closely align education with national development needs. At the same time, it serves as a practical initiative to realize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated 22 December 2024 of the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
Notably, the project is one of the outstanding outcomes under the Strategic Memorandum of Understanding between VNU-HCM and VNG for the 2025–2030 period, signed on 24 May 2025. The program contributes to advancing a practice-oriented training model in collaboration with a leading technology enterprise. The curriculum was jointly designed based on the Game Development Fresher (GDF) program of VNG ZingPlay Game Studios (ZPS) and the Game Development training program of the Software Engineering discipline at UIT.

The course officially commenced on 10 September 2025, enrolling 51 selected students from the Faculty of Software Engineering, divided into 10 project teams. Throughout the course, students were directly exposed to industry-standard game development workflows, worked in a real corporate environment at VNG Campus, and received professional guidance and feedback from UIT lecturers and VNG experts.
After nearly five months of study and practice, the teams completed and presented preliminary project reports. Based on a comprehensive evaluation of creativity, technical quality, and practical applicability, three outstanding teams were selected to present and demonstrate their game products at the closing ceremony. During the event, students confidently showcased their products and shared insights into their development processes, challenges faced, and lessons learned.

Games developed by UIT students were demonstrated and experienced firsthand at the ceremony.
The program concluded with an awards and recognition session honoring the most outstanding student teams, acknowledging their dedication, creativity, and professional working spirit.
The UIT x VNG Co-Training Project 2025 once again affirmed the effectiveness of a pioneering collaborative training model that brings the classroom into the enterprise. The initiative contributes to narrowing the gap between education and real-world practice, enhancing students’ professional competencies, and strengthening their adaptability to the increasingly demanding labor market in the digital technology sector.
