On the afternoon of November 16, at the Tran Chi Dao Auditorium - Headquarters of VNUHCM, VNUHCM solemnly organized the Opening Ceremony for the academic year 2023. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended as a guest speaker.
The Prime Minister delivered a presentation on the theme "Higher education and the role of motivating rapid and sustainable growth for the country in the new period." He emphasized the role of higher education in developing the workforce, especially a high-quality workforce, which plays a decisive role in the prosperity of each nation.
According to the Prime Minister, we are building the country on three main pillars: constructing a state of socialist law, building a democratic socialist society, and developing a market-oriented socialist economy. Throughout these pillars, humans are the core, the subject, the driving force, the resource, and the goal for development.
"Educational and training, in general, and higher education, in particular, play a crucial role in promoting development and enhancing intellectual standards. It is especially the place that provides highly educated human resources and nurtures talents to meet the requirements of socio-economic development," stated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Addressing the students, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and the State always care and create the best conditions for you to study, train, research, and innovate; equipping you with the most complete tools to enter life and become global citizens.
"You are the future owners of the country. During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh, the great national hero and world cultural celebrity, once asserted: 'Youth are the future owners of the country... Whether the country is prosperous or declining, weak or strong, much depends on the youth.' With aspirations and enthusiasm for dedication, you need to uphold the pioneering tradition in studying, scientific research, innovation, and contribute to realizing the ambition of building a prosperous and happy country," advised Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister hopes that students of VNUHCM will be proactive, actively self-study, conduct research, explore, innovate, enhance personal capabilities, set clear study and research goals, develop self-learning skills, and improve professional competence.
