The UIT team is ready to compete in the Asia-Pacific Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) 2024

On the morning of February 29, the team of students from University of Information Technology (UIT) arrived in Hanoi, ready for the Asia-Pacific Finals of the ICPC 2024, taking place from February 29 to March 3, where the best teams from the selection rounds in the region will gather.

Previously, from the ICPC Regional rounds, 5 championship teams were selected (from 5 locations: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Indonesia), along with the top 60 teams in the region chosen by ICPC Asia Pacific to compete in the Finals for the title in Hanoi. From here, the top 16 teams will represent the Asia Pacific region in the global ICPC Finals in Kazakhstan in September 2024.

Present at the exam location this morning, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Tu Anh - Rector of the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University, met and encouraged the spirits of the team members. Representing UIT in the competition, the team of Computer Science students from the Talent Program, including Le Nhat Huy, Vo Minh Quan, and Huynh Dang Vinh Hien, will officially start their competition with the expectation of bringing achievements for the University. In the previous International Student Programming Contest ICPC Asia Hue City 2023 in December 2023, UIT.HHQ.SilverBullet surpassed 125 teams, securing the 22nd place in the entire Asia region (11th in Vietnam) and won the 3rd prize overall. Carrying the name UIT.HHQ.SilverBullet, all three young men continue to affirm their desire for victory and a strong breakthrough like an unstoppable silver bullet at the ICPC Asia Pacific Finals.

"ICPC Asia Pacific Championship 2024" is a large-scale competition in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together many outstanding teams from technology-oriented countries such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore. Therefore, we have made thorough preparations to participate. A reasonable training plan, a strong mentality, and a determination to give our best for the colors and reputation of UIT-ers are our competitive principles," said Vo Minh Quan confidently.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is one of the oldest and most prestigious technology competitions for students. In over 50 years of organization, the contest has been an opportunity for technology students to demonstrate creativity, cultivate soft skills, and enhance knowledge and software programming skills.

In 2024, Vietnam continues to have the honor of hosting the Asia Pacific Finals of the ICPC. Before the competition, both Nhat Huy, Minh Quan, and Vinh Hien have prepared, focused, and seriously practiced under the dedicated guidance of UIT teachers, carefully reviewing the competition strategy and summarizing the experience from previous limitations. Family, teachers, and friends are also ready to be the strongest support, helping the talented young men remain confident and achieve stable mental states along with their best performance.

The ICPC Asia-Pacific Championship 2024 will be played on the international standard testing system operated by ICPC Japan, connecting with the VNOJ testing system in Vietnam.

The ICPC competition continues to attract students and grows in the number of participating teams worldwide, with 6 continents divided into 9 smaller continental regions organizing the ICPC continental finals. Asia is divided into 3 ICPC continental finals: Asia East, Asia West, and Asia Pacific.
