What is 5G? 5G will be better than 4G

What is 5G? 5G will be better than 4G

04-01-2019
TTO – Networks operators around the world will shift to 5G, Vietnam also has its plan. So what advantage does 5G make compared to 4G? The 5G network will make perfect 4G network today. – Illustration image Since the arrival of 3G, Data has started to be in fashion whenever people mention computer networks. Though 4G is considered to be high speed, it does not completely satisfy internet users while the demand for mobile internet connection is increasing rapidly. Therefore, 5G is expected to make the mobile internet perfect. Peak speed at 10Gbps - 20Gbps On June 14, 2016, a plenary meeting brought together more than 600 representatives from operators, equipment manufacturers, chipset suppliers and Internet service providers, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) approved the independent deployment ability of 5G New Radio (NR) standard. The meeting ushered in the R15 standard era. This day was considered as the 5G next-gen’s birthday. The R15 standard takes commercial needs its priority towards advanced mobile broadband (eMBB). It can provide a maximum speed of 10 Gbps at 100 MHz bandwidth, and 20 Gbps at 200 MHz bandwidth. In comparison to the current 4G with the highest speed at a few hundred Mbps (4G in Vietnam is currently only a few dozen Mbps), Gbps speed is considered perfect for instant connection of mobile networks. Therefore, the making of 5G is to level up mobile broadband services. Many technology companies believe to capitalize on 5G in bringing mobile Internet, especially mobile video, to the level as the same as that of today's mobile service, allowing users to enjoy mobile broadband services at anytime and anywhere. Technology companies also expect that by the end of 2019, R16 and the next generation standard will have shown up and addressed the challenges of huge amount of connection and extremely low latency. 5G perfects 4G network According to Huawei’s statistical figures, for China Unicom network, monthly data per 4G user (DOU) increases to 9 GB in China. The China Mobile’s DOU is roughly 5 GB and the figure is expected to triple by next year. China Telecom's DOU is nearly 7 GB. The DOU has reached 70 GB, and 35 GB in Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia respectively. In Finland, DOU has increased to 43% just in one year to 20 GB, etc. Obviously, there is an increasing need from users around the globe to consume more data. However, experience and its speed do not meet their expectation. An actual fact which is accepted by network operators is that 4G networks can hardly ever meet the needs of current users. According to a survey conducted by Huawei and a Chinese operator on the Internet browsing in 30 top developed cities where Huawei offers its services, the average rate has dropped by 53%, from 51 Mbps (2017) down to 20 Mbps. This figure proves that network capacity cannot keep up with users’ needs and the service growth. During Internet rush hours in a China’s large city, uplink speed is only 400 Kbps and the downlink speed is 4 Mbps. Users’ experience is facing a bottleneck situation in these areas. It is a common problem that leads to poor user experience in developed regions. Therefore, 5G network is naturally expected by both users and network operators. With speed up to Gbps line, 5G can completely meet the growing needs of mobile internet users. Besides, 5G will support up to 100 billion connected mobile devices, which is a much larger number than that of 2G, 3G or 4G networks can support. This is extremely necessary as the number of network connected devices is expanding such as IoT devices, smart devices, etc. However, in terms of architecture and protocol systems, 5G and 4G use the same architecture. 5G is built on 4G and expands its potential. The baseband blocks (baseband) and their remote wave blocks are similar. Their protocols are also largely the same. Mobile Internet services still account for the majority of data traffic in both 4G and 5G networks. The slight difference between them is that advanced encryption algorithms as well as privacy and security mechanisms will make 5G safer. That means 5G has better security in comparison with 4G. In the past 40 years, the mobile communications sector has enhanced two main fundamental services: mobile and mobile Internet (especially mobile video). It takes 30 years - from 1G to 2G and finally 3G - for mobiles to bring interesting experiences, permitting users to access any services whenever they want. Mobile Internet, especially mobile video, appeared in the 3G era, has grown rapidly in the 4G era. However, it has not reached such the high level as of mobile phones. 5G next-gen will be the mobile Internet, especially mobile video which reaches the same level as the current mobile service, allows users to enjoy mobile broadband services anytime, anywhere. 5G will be "incubator" for new basic services such as mobile (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality). The latest version of a ransomware-type virus in Vietnam

The latest version of a ransomware-type virus in Vietnam

12-12-2018
More than 3,900 computers were encrypted by GandCrab which is a ransomware-type virus and demands payments. According to a Whitehat security forum, the virus is the fifth generation version of the GandCrab virus. The first generation was first discovered globally in January 2018. This nefarious code has been updated and upgraded by hackers to a more sophisticated and complex level. Around 4,000 infected computers by this encryption software are tending to spread on the Internet in Vietnam. GandCrab is spread by a method in which criminals behind it send victims fake emails to instruct them to open the attached file in a text format. In case you open the file, your computer gets infected with malicious code and all data on the computer will be encrypted completely, unable to open. Ransom notice on an infected GandCrab computer A ransom notice appears on the victim's computer, giving users payment instructions by installing the Tor browser to pay money in Dash or Bitcoin. The payment is ranged from $200 to $1,200 depending on the amount of encrypted data. BKAV said no victim paid money to the hackers. Security experts recommend users need to install updated anti-virus software to computers, do not open doubted attachments from unsolicited junk emails. In cases they have to, they are advised to open the file in a Safe Run environment. According to Bkav's figures in 2017, computer viruses inflicted financial losses to Vietnamese people estimated in VND12,300 billion, equivalent to USD540 million. Source: vnexpress.net

TTO – Bkav, a network security company, has warned that more than 735,000 computers in Vietnam are infected with virtual money digging virus, W32.CoinMiner. Illustration. - Source: OPHTEK The virus also takes the rein, using victims' computers to mine cryptocurrencies, causing infected computers to run slower than usual, fall into a lagging situation. According to Bkav, W32.CoinMiner infects by hacking into computers which exist SMB vulnerability. This is a vulnerability once exploited by WannaCry malware to infect more than 300,000 computers in the world within a few hours. According to Bkav, more than 50% computers in Vietnam has not got a new patch for this vulnerability yet. After the virus enters the system, it takes the control of computers and actively uses computers’ resource to inflict financial loss, which would slow down the computer. This not only causes inconvenience for users, but also overuse of electricity reducing computer’s lifespan.   “More dangerous, malwares have an ability to self-update and download other malicious codes to erase data, steal personal information or even perform targeted APT attacks,” a Bkav expert stressed. More than 50% of computers in Vietnam was found to get SMB vulnerability although the malware was detected and alarmed in 2017. An expert explained: “most computers in Vietnam are not frequently updated new patches. This is probably that the updated pop-ups were intentionally turned off, and there is copyright violation, etc.” Source: tuoite.vn Translator: Duong Kim Thuy Linh

From the old components, damage computers, the students of the University of Information Technology Ho Chi Minh City has restored and assembled to bring to remote children. Old computer - new knowledge   As usual, the room PM1 of the University of Information Technology Ho Chi Minh City always full of volunteer students’ talk and laughter in the team program "old computer - new knowledge". They come here, in addition to learn more knowledge in computer repair, also contributed their enthusiastic work to social work.   Turn old computer into new knowledge - Photo: Phan Dinh   Inside the small room just over 40 square meters filled with CPUs, old computer screens. Each student with their own tasks, disassembling the machine, cleaning the components, ... creating a lively atmosphere. In the corner of the room, a group of three students are busy to milling dusted, old CPUs, and then take the components attached to the test drive, hoping to find a few components to use. After nearly 3 hours of "operating" the old CPUs, the team found only good 2 motherboards and 3 Ram. Trinh Minh Toan - Team leader of "Old computer - new knowledge" said: "The whole amount of computers and CPUs are from the people in the team mobilized from the people, so most are extremely damaged. The well-functioning machines will be marked and stored in the warehouse, while the extremely damaged machine will be disassembled components by the team.   Students disassembled CPU to get the remained parts Since all components and computers that you collect have expired, it is very difficult to assemble a complete computer. "Older parts are no longer usable, so I collect to sell away to raise funds from that. At the same time, individuals will spend their own money to buy new components if they need them for assembling the new computers "Toan said. Most of students participate in the program "old computers - new knowledge" with the volunteering spirit. They want to contribute for social works. Until now, the team has 30 members, freshmen and sophomore in the regional universities. They spend all their summer vacation coming here to work together for the future of children in remote areas. Although some of students are not specialized in computer, but they still come to register. Do Thi Thi Hai, a student at Banking University HCM City said: "Joining this program, i learnt from the other students the way how to distinguish each components, which is still usable and which is not. What I was most impressed is the trip to receive components in the provinces, I feel very tired, but I think after we collect the enough components, there are many new computers assembled, immediately I feel no more exhausted. Students are discussing how to overcome the difficulties while assembling. After the computers have been repaired and successfully operated, the team will contact the local authorities and remote areas Trade Unions to select the school which are lack of conditions and have the necessary demands for computers. Students will directly deliver computers to that place. Over 9 developing years, the team has awarded more than 300 computers to more than 6 provinces in the Southern Vietnam. In this year's green summer campaign, the team is expected to offer 2 computer rooms, each with 10 computers in Giong Trom Ward (Ben Tre Province) and Hon Chuoi Island (Ca Mau Province). "The team works all day of the week. Especially, in the peak season, these students will work until 9 pm. Since these computers are made from old components, the team will come here to warranty these computers once in 3 month and repair them if needed" Toan said. The activities of the program "Old Computers - New Knowledge" not only helps students learn more knowledge for their majors, but also allows them to know more about valuable life meanings Source: thanhnien.vn
Meeting with “the unexperienced boy becoming experienced man”

Meeting with “the unexperienced boy becoming experienced man”

17-07-2017
The parents are overprotected Nguyen Quoc Trung from his childhood to sophomore, he only has the farthest trip... in Vung Tau with his family. And yet in the junior year, this Software Engineering high-quality program student (UIT) has made a spectacular "hattrick" of success in winning three dreamy International exchange program scholarships continuously such as at National University of Singapore, Hosei University (Japan) and Harvard University (USA). Nguyen Quoc Trung, a Software Engineering high-quality freshman, University of Information Technology (UIT) What made the unexperienced boy become the experienced man? We had the opportunity to chat with this interesting guy. Hi Quoc Trung! It seems like your last school year is a memorable year for you as one of 53 Asian students who have been awarded Singapore's Temasek Foundation International Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (TFI-LEaRN). Few students received the Sakura Scholarship to Japan to study technology, and especially one in five students received the "Come to Harvard – Learn to success" award. Can you share some emotions as well as memories when joining these programs? I feel very lucky because The TFI-LEaRN Award is my dream. Because it was the first time I tried it. Previously, my parents protected me so carefully so I have not gone anywhere farer than Vung Tau and it is also the only time away from the secondary school years. Therefore, decided to register this program without parents’ permissions is my bravery decision at that time.. The most memorable gift that I received from this program is the friendships from the international friends. It could be compared with the family love. It was the first time I felt empty when saying goodbye with them at the airport. For me, a group of friends from different countries living together, chatting, experiencing many ups and downs during 5 months is unforgettable. I think that learning about the education of countries in the region to find the pros and cons of Vietnam is also a motivation for my change and development. Having more friends around the world make my world flatter and dare to dream and catch it. This is also the reason motivating me do something new like the trip to Harvard University recently. Can you tell us more about your activities at Harvard University? In there, what impresses you the most? The program "Come To Harvard - Learn to Success" sponsored by Hoa Sen Group. Me and my four friends have two weekends visiting the city, five days a week is a study and exchange schedule from morning until evening with professors from Harvard University and many other major universities. There, I learned subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Psychoanalytic for Leaders, Balance Scorecard, Network Security, Creative Leadership, Global Branding. There is also an exchange with former Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis to hear about his leadership style. End of the trip was a seminar on "Erasing discrimination in the era of integration" at the UN headquarters in New York. What impressed me most was the words “Veritas” (honest) on each of Harvard's gates. That is the supreme virtue for any Harvard University students and staffs to aware and maintain. All are towards a true learning environment, real understanding, true success. This is not new, but I am very grateful for this value over wisdom or money. According to you, what is the “Secret" to become a outstanding candidate for international exchange programs? As I said, my parents are overprotected me when I was a child but I always want to get out of the wrap (laughs). Fortunately, in the years of secondary and high school, I concentrated on learning English and achieved the English achievements as the second prize of Province students, Olympic bronze medal in online English on the national level; first prize in oral English provincial level (group competition). It is a prerequisite for entering university, to follow my passion- information technology – I feel confident and start looking for scholarships or foreign exchange programs to get out of the pack as soon as possible (laughs). I think good at foreign language and passion at the major you are specilized in is the key to success. Information technology has many small branches, why do you choose software engineering to "digging"? What is special with this major? Software Engineering focuses on two areas: software and game development. As a child I like to play games , I choose this industry to try to pursue hobby. UIT has a very good point that the division of majors right from the beginning to help students have a clear orientation when starting to choose this field of study to follow. After 3 years of study I found that this is a very interesting field, there are many excellent and modern lecturers and. So many times I think, perhaps thanks to the comfort and friendliness of UIT staffs, so I have many opportunities like today. How did the specialized knowledge support you during the exchange? The major of each student makes the exchange programs more diversed than, except for the multicultural diverse. Each person is assigned work in accordance with his specialized skills. In Singapore, Trung helps the other friends use the computer and makes a memorial clip at the farewell. As for studying at Harvard University, I applied the knowledge to make the presentations to help my team members have a basic knowledge of in-depth information technology field before each lecture. In the near future, will Trung continue to look for other international exchange opportunities? Because I am senior now, I want to focus on the two internships before graduation. Then I will seek opportunities to work in a certain ASEAN +3 to expand my understanding as well as cultural experiences. Hope that in the near future I have enough experiences to run an IT start-up in the country to challenge myself. News: Doan Thi Minh Chau
The University set up a student satisfaction survey machine

The University set up a student satisfaction survey machine

16-06-2017
TTO - "How do you feel when working with the Student Affairs Office?", which is a questionnaire survey on the touch screen placed in front of the student office of the University of Information Technology - VNUHCM. Students expressed their satisfaction and comments to the Student Affairs Office at UIT –VNUHCM This system helps the UIT change its listening habits from students. To answer the above question, students choose one of five emotion icons: extreme frustration, sadness, normal, happy and extremely satisfied. The machine also asks students to leave a few specific comments. At the trial level, the field has not yet purchased the evaluation tool, so the data collected from the machine is only synthesized as an Excel file and sent to the computer managed by the student affairs manager. This is the technology of a startup company, founded by former Le Hong Phong high school students with American and Vietnamese engineers, developed in the US as ConfiguRate (Rapid Assessment Software). "Each surveyor is a 24-hour, 24-hour camera with a camera system that records statistics and makes recommendations. The system is responsible for transferring information and suggestions of students into cloud data, management organizations can view information immediately, "- said Tran Thi Kieu Oanh, representative of the company. "Depending on the needs, the machine unit can put different types of questions. The student satisfaction survey directly from students creates excitement for them when they come to the Student Affairs Office and encourage the spirit of learning, creative, start up their business, "- said Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Head of the Student Affairs Office, said. Apps to find roads for shippers

Apps to find roads for shippers

15-06-2017
TTO – Based on Google map, 3-year students group of University of Information Technology – VNUHCM (UIT) has rewritten algorithm about finding roads for many places with the shortest route for shippers. Hoàng Kim Tuấn and Trần Thị Minh Trang spent about 2 weeks to creat SmartGoing – Photo: HUỆ LÂM   Your browser does not support the video tag.   The Smart Going application, conducted by Tran Thi Minh Trang, Hoang Kim Tuan, Nguyen Minh Hieu (Faculty of Software Engineering), created within two weeks, allowing users to enter addresses by hands of voice requirement. The application automatically arranges and returns the most reasonable route with the total length of the route, the detailed way. As a result, users save time, travel expenses, especially driver groups or delivery staff. Familiar paths are saved for later history. The inconvenience of the current Google Map is that it only provides two destinations, which cannot be extended by 7 to 8 locations, if you want to manually operate multiple times, not to mention when the user wants to be suggested the shortest route. Leveraging Google's existing APIs (Google Map APIs) and Google Voice, student teams provide new algorithms to help them handle with emerging needs.
