VNUHCM's Dormitory Organized the second voluntary blood donation event of 2023
01-11-2023
On October 27, 2023, the Dormitory Management Center, in collaboration with the Red Cross Association of Di An City, organized the second voluntary blood donation event of 2023 for staff, workers, and resident students at Dormitory Block B. The program carried the message "Donate a drop of blood, leave a lifetime behind."
After more than 4 hours of implementation, the organizers received participation from 300 staff, workers, and students, and collected a total of 105,000 ml of blood (consisting of 300 blood units with a volume of 350 ml each). This blood donation drive holds significant importance as it timely replenishes the shortage of blood supply, providing essential reserves for medical facilities, hospitals, and patients in need.
This marks the second voluntary blood donation event of 2023 at the Center, following the successful first event held on October 4, 2023, at Dormitory Block A. The enthusiastic participation of students, staff, and workers during both events was remarkable.
The voluntary blood donation movement will continue to be promoted by the Dormitory Management Center to encourage staff, workers, and students to voluntarily contribute to the community, fostering a spirit of solidarity and volunteerism among resident students.

Extracting Relationships between Entities in Vietnamese Texts
29-10-2023
Extracting Relationships between Entities in Vietnamese Texts
Pham Minh Man - CH1802054
Extracting relationships is a crucial task in Natural Language Processing (NLP). It falls under the umbrella of information extraction, widely applied in various fields such as knowledge graphs, automatic question answering, text summarization, and more. With the continuous growth of data, especially textual data, this task has garnered significant attention from researchers both nationally and internationally. However, research on relationship extraction in Vietnamese texts is still limited compared to other languages like English and Chinese. This thesis delves deeper into this topic.
Practical Applications include:
Web Mining: Explores data from the web, analyzing competitors, extracting names of famous individuals, popular products, price comparisons, and customer sentiment analysis.
Business Intelligence: Evaluates market information from new regulations in the business market, political information between countries, etc.
Contributions to Science:
Provides an overview of domestic and international research, the development trends of relationship extraction, and related tasks such as coreference resolution.
Discusses and evaluates various relationship extraction methods and coreference resolution techniques, proposes future directions for research.
Thesis Achievements:
Offers a comprehensive understanding of the relationship extraction task, the current state of research both nationally and internationally, and trends in relationship extraction and related tasks such as coreference resolution.
Compares combined models based on BERT for relationship extraction in Vietnamese. The study compares models based on PhoBERT and XLM-RoBERTa with single models like PhoBERT, demonstrating that combining models yields better results than individual models.
Proposes and evaluates new coreference resolution methods for Vietnamese texts to support the relationship extraction task, achieving F1 scores of 66.50%, 82.70%, and 76.26% using MUC, B3, and CEAFe metrics, respectively.
Develops a demo system for relationship extraction in Vietnamese texts.
Limitations:
The thesis does not address the issue of data imbalance during the training of relationship extraction models in Vietnamese.
The results of coreference resolution have not been integrated into the developed relationship extraction system.

Members of TeamQ - Wanna.W1n is participating in the Data for Life 2023 competition with the topic "Development of a Fraudulent Website Detection Application Using Multi-Method Deep Learning."
28-10-2023
Team W1.Shark has developed an application called Shark-eyess, designed to detect fraudulent websites using multi-method deep learning techniques aimed at protecting end-users.
According to Vo Quang Minh, a member of Team W1.Shark, the widespread use of the internet has created an opportunity for cybercriminals to launch phishing attacks targeting individuals lacking knowledge about online safety. These attacks aim to steal sensitive information and finances, causing financial losses and damaging the reputation of large organizations that are impersonated.
In response to this situation, the team researched and implemented a solution based on multi-method deep learning to detect fraudulent websites. The machine learning model, after training, is capable of real-time detection of phishing websites and promptly alerts users when accessing such sites. The solution has been deployed as a user-friendly application accessible to all.
The Data for Life 2023 competition, organized by the Administrative Management Police Department (C06) under the Ministry of Public Security, is set to take place from August 7, 2023. The competition is a collaboration between the University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam Television, and VnExpress.
Apart from the initial application stage, the competition consists of three rounds: preliminary (41 teams), finals (10 teams), where prizes will be awarded to the top 5 outstanding teams. The final round is scheduled for November 23-24 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The total prize pool is expected to be 370 million Vietnamese dong, with the first and second prizes being 200 million and 100 million dong, respectively.
