On the morning of May 11, 2026, the UIT & AvePoint AI Lab was officially inaugurated on the 10th floor of Building E at the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). The event marked a significant milestone in advancing research, innovation, and the application of artificial intelligence in both education and real-world practice.

Representing AvePoint, the ceremony welcomed Dr. Tianyi Jiang, Co-Founder and CEO of AvePoint; Ms. Zoe Shang, CEO of MaivenPoint and COO of AvePoint ASEAN; and Mr. Harry Li, Country Manager of AvePoint Vietnam.
Representing UIT were Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, Ph.D., Acting President of the University, and Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan, Ph.D., Vice President, together with leaders from faculties and administrative units, as well as UIT students.
The inauguration ceremony featured the official ribbon-cutting, symbolizing the launch of a collaborative platform designed to foster innovation and strengthen industry-academia partnerships in the field of artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang emphasized:
“We believe this laboratory will provide a solid foundation for long-term strategic cooperation between UIT and AvePoint. In the years ahead, we expect to jointly implement more training programs, enabling students to access emerging technologies, international working processes, and a global business environment while still at university.”
The AI Lab is equipped with high-performance computers and dedicated server infrastructure. More than a state-of-the-art research facility, it offers students direct exposure to modern technologies and industry practices through collaboration with AvePoint.

During the event, representatives from both UIT and AvePoint toured the laboratory and interacted with students who will participate in future research and training activities.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the partnership, Ms. Zoe Shang, CEO of MaivenPoint and COO of AvePoint ASEAN, stated:
“The AI Lab will be a place where innovative ideas become reality. Through this international-standard research environment, AvePoint experts, UIT faculty members, and students will work together to create technological breakthroughs, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.”

A Mission to Develop Future Technology Leaders
The UIT & AvePoint AI Lab follows a collaborative model that brings together government, academia, and industry. According to its development roadmap, the laboratory will focus on building its foundation during the first 12 months and deliver three intensive training programs for at least 120 outstanding students.
In the long term, the project aims to cultivate highly skilled AI professionals with strong practical capabilities who are prepared to compete in demanding international markets such as Singapore and the United States. By the 24-month milestone, the AI Lab will shift its focus toward applied research and the implementation of real-world technology projects that support businesses and communities in Vietnam's digital transformation journey.

The inauguration of the UIT & AvePoint AI Lab once again demonstrates UIT's commitment to aligning education with industry needs and reinforces its position as a leading institution in information technology and innovation. At the same time, the initiative opens up new opportunities for students in research, internships, and career development on a global scale.
