“If I had not put aside my self-doubt and submitted that application, I would have missed out on an entire world of possibilities at the age of 21.”These are the words of Dinh Huu Phuoc, a student from the Faculty of Computer Science and one of two student representatives from the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UIT), selected to participate in the ASEAN Undergraduate Symposium (AUS) 2026. Themed “Communities in Action,” the symposium was hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS).Over 14 days in Singapore, Phuoc joined more than 300 students from ASEAN countries and across Asia in a wide range of academic activities, multinational group projects, and “Learning Journeys” exploring community-based initiatives, sustainable development, and innovation.More than an opportunity to learn in an international environment, AUS 2026 gave Phuoc a deeper understanding that technology creates its greatest value when applied to real-world challenges facing people and communities.
