Recently, Do Van Truong, a student from the 2019 cohort of the international joint program with Birmingham City University (BCU), successfully had a paper published at the SOICT 2023 International Scientific Conference. Van Truong conducted the paper titled "Bias-free Trading Algorithms with Momentum Scores for the Vietnamese Stock Market," aiming to assess the profit potential of momentum trading strategies when applied to the Vietnamese stock market. The research also involved comparing its effectiveness with the VN100 Index and addressing the hidden survival bias impacts. As a Trading Analyst, Truong frequently dealt with issues of bias when testing the feasibility and efficiency of algorithms in the Vietnamese stock market. This inspired him to undertake this research project. During the research process, the most significant challenge Truong faced was managing time effectively to meet his set goals. The 2001-born student shared, "Balancing time between work, assignments, class projects, and scientific research was challenging. Proper time management is key to achieving all goals with the highest efficiency within the set timeframe."To overcome these challenges, Truong carefully planned and managed his time. On November 15 and 16, 2023, the Faculty of Information Systems - University of Information Technology welcomed the visit and practical work of the Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics (ASIIN). During this visit, the Faculty of Information Science underwent an official assessment according to ASIIN standards for three training programs, including: Bachelor's in Information Systems, Bachelor's in E-Commerce, and Master's in Information Systems. The Faculty of Information Systems is the first faculty at the University to participate in the accreditation of training programs according to ASIIN standards. ASIIN is a reputable accreditation organization within the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), conducting assessments and recognition for higher education institutions and degree programs in natural sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, and information technology. Dinh Van Co, a 2019 graduate in Data Science, has achieved remarkable success with two scientific research papers presented at the ATC 2023 International Conference and VNICT2023. Embracing the motto "Never a failure, always a lesson," the student from Dong Thap province has persistently overcome difficulties, reaping the sweet fruits of his efforts. Sweet Fruits of Unrelenting Effort Born into an economically disadvantaged family in Dong Thap province, Van Co often assisted his mother in work during his childhood to cover family expenses. At the age of 16, he had to fend for himself, juggling both studies and work. Despite facing adversity, Van Co never viewed it as a barrier. On the contrary, he saw challenges as motivation to strive and excel in both academics and life. Co shared, "I believe that my circumstances may not be equal to others, but my efforts may not necessarily be inferior." Bui Tuan Kiet is currently a fourth-year student majoring in Computer Science at University of Information Technology (UIT). For him, UIT is not only an ideal environment to pursue his passion for Artificial Intelligence (AI) research but also a place that nurtures valuable human values within him. Unwavering Study Efforts Bui Tuan Kiet's journey in the pursuit of science has never been easy. He shares, "The feeling of exhaustion and stress has become an integral part of my daily life." There are days when he has to dedicate a whopping 16 hours, from 8 in the morning until midnight, to focus on completing assignments on time. In the past semester, many courses required him to continuously train models for 2-3 days to achieve the best results for projects. Additionally, the report deadlines between courses were relatively close, and the time to complete each project was limited to 2-3 weeks. This demanded meticulous time management and planning from Tuan Kiet. Despite the challenges, his spirit remains unbroken. The course "IT Project Deployment with Scrum 2023" took place over four days from October 30, 2023, to November 2, 2023, in Room E10.1, University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM. Initially, our team consisted of three members: Gia Bảo, Khánh Tường, and Nhật Khoa. We met during the selection round for the AI Club of the Computer Science Department. We were brought together by senior students and have been working together since. After collaborating on several projects, we found that we shared similar interests not only in communication and thinking but also in our passion for technology and future directions. The inclusion of Trung Kiên into our team happened naturally. As a student specializing in Information Security, he shared a program with Nhật Khoa. After observing our team's development in various competitions, Kiên provided valuable technical and UX/UI insights. We invited him to contribute to our projects, and with his strong language skills and keen perspective, Kiên played a significant role in shaping queries and helping the team achieve success in competitions. Currently, after publishing an international scientific paper and winning the AI Challenge, we are striving for more impressive achievements as a team. How do you ensure a common voice among team members in case of conflicts? Despite our shared values and collaboration, conflicts can arise, especially when dividing tasks. It's challenging to ensure everyone understands and agrees on common goals, such as unifying a model for deployment or setting project submission deadlines. The key to finding a common voice in such situations is to respect each other's perspectives, be willing to compromise, and consider the best solutions from individual opinions. We believe that unity and mutual respect are the keys to overcoming challenges and achieving success. What are your emotions when looking back at your journey? Our biggest emotion is gratitude. First and foremost, we want to express our gratitude to each team member for their dedication. Achieving our successes required a lengthy process with challenges, excitement, and moments of discouragement. We appreciate each team member for their continuous efforts towards personal and club achievements. We are thankful for not giving up during tough times.
