The lack of three-dimensional perception makes it difficult for visually impaired users to form a clear understanding of their surroundings, increasing mobility risks and limiting independence in daily life. Addressing this challenge, the team developed a smart wearable device that functions as a spatial cognition assistant. Unlike conventional computer vision systems that focus solely on object labeling, the proposed solution is built on 3D spatial reconstruction from a monocular camera, combined with object relationship analysis and natural language interpretation. The system delivers adaptive feedback and specific navigation guidance, enabling visually impaired users to move from passively reacting to alerts toward actively controlling their movement within real-world environments. UIT Students Shine at the Final Round of the 1st Vietnam National Student Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence – OlpAI’25 The Final Round of the 1st Vietnam National Student Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (OlpAI’25) concluded with an outstanding performance by the student delegation of the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM (UIT). Remarkably, all 5 UIT teams qualifying for the final round won awards, achieving a complete and highly commendable result. Nguyen Tien Toan: The Journey to Korea’s Prestigious Government Scholarship   With an insatiable passion for exploration, relentless effort, and an unwavering desire to learn, Nguyen Tien Toan, a 2021 alumnus of the Faculty of Computer Engineering at the University of Information Technology (UIT), has proudly been awarded the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) by the Korean government to pursue his academic research ambitions. UIT: Where Global Dreams Begin Reflecting on his time at UIT, Toan describes it as a period filled with self-created opportunities for growth and experience. From academic competitions like UIT Car Racing and GenAI Bosch Challenge to extracurricular activities such as football, Green Summer Campaign, and Spring Volunteer Program, Toan immersed himself fully. “Although I didn’t achieve many accolades in these competitions, to me, they were invaluable platforms to sharpen my programming skills, enhance teamwork, and most importantly, pursue my passions,” Toan shared. The greatest gift UIT gave him was a shift in mindset. What once seemed like a distant dream—studying abroad—became an attainable goal, thanks to the mentorship of UIT’s faculty and seniors who generously shared their knowledge and experiences. UIT Student Wins First Prize at AMO 2025 – A Victory Driven by Passion and Perseverance   Nguyễn Văn Linh, a third-year student majoring in Computer Engineering at the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), has recently claimed the top position in the National Round of the 2025 International Microelectronics Olympiad (AMO 2025). This remarkable achievement is not only a personal victory but also the culmination of Linh’s unwavering passion for microelectronics and his continuous journey of learning and perseverance. The Journey to the Top of AMO 2025 - The Result of Persistent Passion When asked about the motivation behind his decision to participate in the competition, Linh shared that his deep passion for microelectronics and the desire to challenge himself in a large academic arena, where talented students from various universities gather, motivated him to register. “I simply wanted to meet talented students from other universities, learn from them, and engage in more meaningful academic encounters. I love microcircuits and want to go far with it.” When Linh received the news of winning first place in the National Round of AMO 2025, he was filled with surprise and emotion, knowing that this victory was the result of months of hard work and dedication. For Linh, this was not just a personal triumph; it was also a confirmation of a goal he had set since his first year – to choose microcircuits as his sole path and pursue it to the fullest.   Overcoming Challenges on the Path to Victory However, no victory comes without its challenges. Linh’s journey to winning the prestigious AMO 2025 was no exception. Few know that Linh’s first attempt at the International Microelectronics Olympiad ended in failure during his first year. “That year, I didn’t have enough knowledge, and I didn’t win a prize. But that experience made me want to return, study harder, and not just aim to compete but to excel.” Linh didn’t stop at his words; he proved his determination by coming back in his second year and winning second place. But he didn’t stop there – in his third year, after preparing carefully and with great determination, he participated again and reached the highest honor at AMO 2025. When reflecting on his experience during the competition, Linh noted that the greatest challenge came from the pressure of time and the complexity of the exam questions. To maintain his pace and avoid stress, Linh chose to adjust his mindset proactively. “There were parts where I had to think carefully about my approach. To balance this, I always kept my spirit relaxed, took appropriate breaks, and stayed positive before each exam.” Linh also had a well-organized study plan leading up to the competition. “I planned my study sessions each week, focusing on areas I was unsure about, and regularly practiced mock exams to simulate the pressure of the real test.” Passion Leads the Way with Determination Linh’s passion for microcircuit design has always been his guiding principle in all academic decisions and career development. Rather than chasing after multiple achievements or participating in many competitions, Linh chose to specialize, dedicating all his time to deepening his knowledge and refining his practical skills in this field. “I chose to focus entirely on microcircuits through personal projects, coursework, and, especially, work at a company – where I have the opportunity to gain real-world experience and enhance my professional skills.” With confidence, initiative, and a strong desire to showcase his abilities, Linh sought work opportunities at various companies and is currently a Design Verification Engineer at Truechip Vietnam Co., Ltd. Despite his busy academic schedule and heavy technical workload, Linh maintains a balanced approach, organizing his time effectively. “Balancing study and work is a challenge, but I usually plan my weekly schedule, prioritize important tasks, and use my free time between classes to handle work. This helps me maintain effectiveness on both sides.”   UIT – The Foundation of Passion and Guidance In Nguyễn Văn Linh’s journey toward microelectronics, UIT is the place where his passion was first nurtured, providing clear and long-term guidance. As Linh, a Computer Engineering student, describes it, UIT “is where passionate teachers, like-minded friends, and valuable opportunities to develop expertise come together.” Moreover, the open learning environment, along with close support from lecturers and the active participation of academic clubs such as the Microcircuit Design Club, has helped not only Linh but also many other UIT students hone their skills, gain hands-on experience with real-world technology, and prepare for large-scale academic competitions. UIT Job Fair 2025 – A Strong Bridge Between Students and Tech Enterprises On the morning of May 16th, the UIT Job Fair 2025 took place energetically at the University of Information Technology - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (UIT), attracting thousands of students and IT companies from both domestic and international markets. As a regular annual event of the university, UIT Job Fair serves as a "launchpad" that helps students gain real-world experience, better understand the labor market, and choose a career path that aligns with their individual strengths. The Job Fair Draws a Large Number of Students Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Lưu Thùy Ngân, Vice-Rector of UIT, shared: “The 2025 Student and Enterprise Day is part of the university's annual activities, aiming to connect students with businesses. It gives them the opportunity to be recruited, secure internships, and eventually find good permanent jobs after graduation.” This year, the program was organized on a large scale with a variety of activities: recruitment booths, quick interviews, CV consultations, career orientation, interactive mini-games, and expert talkshows featuring seasoned HR professionals and technology engineers. Students Meet and Network with Companies Right on Campus From early morning, the campus was lively with the presence of renowned companies such as VNG, SAP, AZAPA Engineering, Netcompany Vietnam, Golden Owl Solution, Renesas Design Vietnam, Shopee, SPX Express, Techcombank, and more, offering thousands of opportunities ranging from internships to full-time positions for students. Company representatives not only provided recruitment information but also took the time to share insights, offer career guidance, and engage with students in a friendly and approachable manner. Nguyễn Phan Hoàng Long, a first-year Information Security student, said, “I see the campus is very lively today, with many companies participating. As a first-year student, I am focusing on companies that recruit in my field to prepare for the future, and I will definitely join again in the coming years.” Notably, the quick interview activity at the booths allowed students to present themselves directly to recruiters and receive immediate feedback. UIT Job Fair was not just a recruitment event but also an opportunity for students to enhance their communication skills, network, and get a real taste of the working environment. Through this, they had a chance to demonstrate their abilities, choose the right career direction, and improve their chances of finding a job after graduation. Lê Trần Đức Thiện, a student in the Vietnam-Japan Information Technology program, shared, “I’m interested in the gaming industry, so I visited the VNG booth to learn more about the real-world job and the skill requirements of the company. In addition, the event has many engaging activities, and a lot of enthusiastic students are participating, making the atmosphere very lively and fun.” UIT Students Engage in Various Activities at Company Booths UIT Job Fair 2025 was not only a recruitment event but also a space for hands-on learning, where students could hone their soft skills, expand their network, and confidently showcase their potential. The event once again demonstrated the University of Information Technology’s commitment to accompanying students on their career development journey and reinforced its role as an active bridge between the university and the tech business community.  

UITer Lương Đắc Nguyên - A Journey to Conquer National Technology Competitions   Lương Đắc Nguyên, a 2023 Data Science student at the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University-HCM, serves as the class president for the Data Science cohort. Along with his leadership role and active participation in extracurricular activities, Nguyên has proven his academic and creative talents through his remarkable achievements in national competitions. Recently, Nguyên and his team secured 2nd place at the WEB3 IDEATHON, a prestigious national competition focused on innovation in blockchain and AI technologies. The Journey to Winning the Prestigious WEB3 IDEATHON Award Realizing the growing technological gap between the rapid pace of advancement and the accessibility for rural farmers, Nguyên and his team developed “Nông Trí”, an AI-powered agricultural chatbot tailored to the needs of Vietnamese farmers. This innovative tool aims to bridge the technological divide, offering farmers real-time updates on crop techniques, weather forecasts, pricing information, and modern farming practices. Thanks to its practical application, addressing the real needs of millions of agricultural workers, “Nông Trí” quickly became a standout project at the WEB3 IDEATHON. The team outshone numerous strong contenders from leading universities nationwide and proudly claimed 2nd place in the competition. Nguyên shared, "The emotions are hard to describe. We felt not only joy but also pride and gratitude as our hard work was recognized. This experience truly highlighted our team's unity and strengthened my confidence in myself." Overcoming Challenges on the Path to Success Despite studying Data Science, Nguyên and his team faced numerous challenges in bringing their AI chatbot to life. From mastering programming and designing user interfaces to managing tight deadlines and overcoming geographical barriers, they navigated these hurdles with clear task division, a continuous learning mindset, and mutual trust. “Our success was due to a clear division of responsibilities, with each team member handling specific modules to ensure smooth collaboration. Thanks to our spirit of progress, self-learning, and trust in one another, we were able to complete the project. Most importantly, we gained invaluable lessons from this journey,” Nguyên reflected. Passion for Academic Competitions The WEB3 IDEATHON was not Nguyên’s first significant achievement. He has also earned prestigious awards, such as 1st place in the ISE Spark of Idea Fall 2024 and Quarter Finalist in the 2024 Hanoi Mathematical Modeling Competition. Beyond academic accomplishments, Nguyên is also known for his active participation in leadership roles and his commitment to social responsibility. Discipline as the Key to Success Nguyên believes that maintaining discipline is essential for balancing academic work, extracurricular activities, and competitions. "I have a small habit of focusing on completing each task thoroughly before moving on to the next. I make sure to plan each part of my day in advance. This helps me stay balanced between my studies and staying active," Nguyên shared. UIT – A Solid Foundation for Innovation UIT’s dynamic and supportive learning environment has played a crucial role in Nguyên’s journey to competing in major tech events. "UIT provided me with practical, real-world knowledge. During the development of Nông Trí, I applied lessons from my courses directly to the project." Nguyên believes that with the knowledge and soft skills provided by UIT, most UITers are well-equipped to participate in major competitions like WEB3 IDEATHON. "All it takes is a little courage to get started," he said. With the motto “In your 20s, be greedy and naive,” Nguyên encourages his fellow students: "You won’t truly know your potential until you put yourself to the test in real-world situations. Academic competitions are not just about winning; they’re opportunities to recognize the value of everything you’ve learned and fill the gaps that textbooks can’t offer." Nguyên’s journey exemplifies the power of innovation, teamwork, and determination — values that UIT instills in all its students.
