Additional Initiative Needed to Support Students at VNU-HCM

This is the directive from Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam - Deputy Director of VNU-HCM, at the Program to Enhance the Capacity of the Student Affairs and Youth Union Officers in 2023, held at the Headquarters of VNU-HCM on the morning of November 29. The program attracted more than 150 officers, Youth Union, and Student Union officials within the VNU-HCM system.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, the training program is part of the Project on Enhancing Revolutionary Ideals, Ethics, Lifestyles, and Inspiring Dedication for Youth and Children in the 2021-2030 period of VNU-HCM.

The goal of the project is to build a generation of students at VNU-HCM who are patriotic, self-reliant, proud of their nationality, politically strong, and have a strong determination for personal and career development. In addition, the project provides valuable practical experiences, models, and innovations as references for universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province, and the Southeastern region.

"The training report has four meaningful topics that are relevant to the current situation of VNU-HCM. I hope that the teachers will research and discuss with the presenters to clarify these issues, thereby proposing solutions. After today's training session, we must have at least one initiative to support students at VNU-HCM," emphasized the Deputy Director of VNU-HCM.

During the training session, two topics were presented: Educational activities, knowledge provision, and entrepreneurial activities, innovative startups for students; connecting projects, entrepreneurial ideas to businesses: reality, models, and solutions (presented by Doan Anh Dao - Head of the Innovation and Startup Program, Software Technology Park, VNU-HCM); Survey work and the use of survey data on opinions of students in student affairs (Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phuong Thao - Director of the Research Center for Infectious Diseases, International University).

In the discussion session after each report, the presiding board and presenters exchanged ideas on topics such as the strategy to promote entrepreneurial spirit for students by the Innovation and Startup Center, Software Technology Park, VNU-HCM; how to ask questions, collect, and process survey samples.

The program took place in two sessions on the morning and afternoon of November 29, aiming to equip additional knowledge, skills, and expertise for officers working in student affairs, Youth Union, and Student Union at member training institutions affiliated with VNU-HCM.

In the afternoon of the same day, delegates continued to listen to two topics: Enhancing the effectiveness of implementing revolutionary ideals, ethics, lifestyles, and inspiring dedication for students at VNU-HCM (Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan - Head of the Party Committee's Propaganda Department of VNU-HCM, Rector of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities); Enhancing the effectiveness of applying information technology in administrative management and procedures for students at VNU-HCM (Master Nguyen Thanh Hiep - Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Information Technology).
