Laboratory of Information Security

1. Introduction

The Information Security Laboratory (InSec Lab) is one of the laboratories at VNUHCM - University of Information Technology. The InSec Lab was founded under the Decision No. 19/QĐ-ĐHCNTT-TCHC dated on January 19, 2016 with the purpose to build an in-depth information security laboratory, featuring with conducting scientific research in information security (IS), addressing reality needs and coming up with solutions for matters in the future, participating in training ranging from undergraduate, graduate and international collaboration, technology transfer in the information security

2. Operation orientation

InSec Lab operates under the following orientation:

Carry out scientific research tasks related to IS:
- Implement urgent and pioneer scientific research projects on the basis of adhering to the development orientation, national socio-economic goals and world’s latest scientific progress;
- Gather and develop a team of highly-ranked scientific and technology staffs, pave the prior way for researches and international collaboration, facilitate favorable states to conduct IS-oriented research;
Advise on researching solutions and transferring technology to solve specific technical and technological issues related to IS ordered by local authorities and enterprises;

3. Core research fields

InSec Lab’s focal point concentrates on the following core research fields:

SPS: Software-defined programmable security (SDN, NFV, Cloud, Edge)
Safe programming: Intrusion test solution, IS and users’ privacy in applications (end-to-end encryption, pen testing, software vulnerability, ...)
Digital forensics
AI security and AI-based security: IS, Data privacy for AI models & Deep learning, Generative Adversarial Networks for Cybersecurity problems
Internet malware/botnet/APT detection, defense, and analysis:
- Detect – intrusion prevention / attacks in systems
- Malicious software (malware): on Android, iOs, Windows, Linux, Web platforms ...
- Intrusion detection, anomaly detection
Blockchain (platform technologies, protocols, and practical applications)
Mobile and IoT security
