Not only outstanding in various club activities, teams, and competitions, UIT student Chế Quang Huy has also excelled in graduating with honors in both Computer Engineering and Computer Science.
At the age of 23, Chế Quang Huy graduated with distinction in both Computer Engineering and Computer Science, achieving a GPA of 8.36 at VNUHCM - University of Information Technology. This marks the first time UIT has produced a student graduating in two fields simultaneously.

Initially enrolled in the Computer Engineering program at UIT, Quang Huy later delved into selected courses from the Computer Science department during his third year. Explaining his decision to pursue a double major, Huy shared, “During my first year, I joined the CEEC academic club of the Computer Engineering department, which allowed me to explore various fields and technologies such as embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and IoT. This exposure helped me understand the interconnections and mutual support among these fields. It also led me to delve into computer vision from the beginning of my second year. Later on, I registered for several Computer Science courses to gain deeper insights into the field of computer vision. By the end of my third year, I made the decision to pursue a double major.”
Not only did Quang Huy graduate with a double major, but he was also actively involved in scientific research and participated in major competitions. Remarkably, he authored multiple scientific papers, including six internationally published papers and one nationally published paper. Additionally, he represented Vietnam alongside fellow CEEC club members in the Bosch Future Mobility Challenge held in Romania in 2023.

Huy shared that being a member of the CEEC club helped him understand the operation of various technologies, providing him with a more intuitive understanding of integrating different technologies. With the widespread application of artificial intelligence in daily life, applying AI algorithms in general and computer vision in particular to devices and embedded systems is considered a highly promising development direction.
Pursuing a double major allowed Quang Huy to acquire diverse knowledge, spanning from hardware to software, enabling him to implement research ideas by combining these domains. Moreover, this academic achievement serves as a significant advantage for his future career prospects.
Balancing time between two majors posed a challenging puzzle for Quang Huy. He admitted facing difficulties studying both majors in class while conducting research in the CEEC club. However, by excelling in his coursework, the knowledge gained through his club activities became a foundation, enabling him to navigate his classes more effectively.
“I made an effort to attend classes regularly and master the materials, so during project phases or final exams, I wouldn’t need to spend excessive time reviewing. Fortunately, the knowledge and insights gained through my involvement with CEEC allowed me to get ahead in many subjects from both majors, making it easier for me to handle my classwork,” said Huy.
Upon graduation, instead of opting for employment in various businesses like his peers, Quang Huy chose to remain at the university for further studies and research. Thanks to his determination and dedicated approach to learning, Quang Huy achieved honors in both majors upon graduation. Currently, he serves as a Researcher at the Multimedia Communication Lab of the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, focusing on computer vision research. He also mentors several students on the application of AI in smart systems.
