UIT News | UIT Champions ASEAN 2023 Student Competition in Information Security

On November 11, 2023, the 20 best teams from the preliminary round of the "ASEAN Student Competition in Information Security 2023" participated in the online finals of the Attack-Defense challenge. The team UIT.Wolf_Brigade from the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM, excelled and secured the highest ranking in this stage.

The teams competing in the finals of the Attack-Defense content showcased their outstanding information security skills. Among them were two teams from Indonesia and Singapore, and 18 teams from 10 universities in Vietnam.

After 5 hours of intense competition, the UIT.Wolf_Brigade team from the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM, emerged victorious in the competition. Additionally, the UIT.Oppenheimer team, another team from the University of Information Technology, achieved second place in this year's competition.

The year 2023 marks the sixteenth year of the Student Competition in Information Security (SCIS) held in Vietnam and the fifth time the competition has expanded its influence to ASEAN countries. UIT has secured the championship for the second consecutive year and the sixth time overall.

The competition aims to promote, disseminate, and enhance awareness and responsibility for information security (IS) in higher education institutions. It also aims to promote research, learning, experience exchange, and the update of modern technological knowledge in the field of IS. This contributes to the implementation of Decision No. 21/QD-TTg dated January 6, 2021, approving the "Training and Development of Information Security Human Resources Plan for the 2021 - 2025 period" and Decision No. 1907/QD-TTg dated November 23, 2020, approving the "Awareness and Knowledge Dissemination on Information Security Plan for the 2021 - 2025 period" by the Prime Minister.

In addition, the annual Student Competition in Information Security also aims to identify talents in the field of IS, promote the training of highly qualified IS personnel, and provide a platform to enhance the exchange of knowledge among students from universities and technical academies in ASEAN countries.

The award ceremony for the participating teams will take place during the Seminar and Exhibition on Vietnam Information Security Day 2023 on November 30 in Hanoi.
