Greetings,

Based on Article 8 of the Foreign Language Training Regulations for regular undergraduate programs, starting from Semester 1 of the academic year 2024-2025, the University's Undergraduate Academic Affairs Office and the Offices of Excellent Program will implement the standardization of the foreign language process for all students.

Article 8. Standards for the Foreign Language Process

  1. After 2 regular semesters from the enrollment date, students must pass English 1 (course code ENG01). If a student does not pass English 1, they are only allowed to register for a maximum of 12 credits outside of foreign language courses (including retaking or improving courses) until they meet the standard.

  2. After 4 regular semesters from the enrollment date, students must pass English 2 (course code ENG02). If a student does not pass English 2, they are only allowed to register for a maximum of 12 credits outside of foreign language courses (including retaking or improving courses) until they meet the standard.

Students in the Vietnamese-Japanese Information Technology program (Japanese-oriented CLC) must pass Japanese 2 (course code JAN02) or hold an equivalent certificate of JLPT N5 or NAT-TEST N5. If not, these students are only allowed to register for a maximum of 12 credits outside of foreign language courses (including retaking or improving courses) until they meet the standard.

  1. After 6 regular semesters from the enrollment date, students must pass English 3 (course code ENG03). If a student does not pass English 3, they are only allowed to register for a maximum of 12 credits outside of foreign language courses (including retaking or improving courses) until they meet the standard.

  2. Time to submit certificates for process standardization: 2 weeks before the start of each semester's course registration.

  3. The process standardization is not applicable to programs with languages other than English and Japanese, double-degree programs, and transfer programs from college to university.
