The University of Information Technology (UIT) was honored to welcome Mr. Keith Strier, Vice President of NVIDIA Corporation, for a visit on the afternoon of April 25th. Representing the leadership of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vũ Hải Quân, Chancellor of VNU-HCM, welcomed the delegation. Representing the university’s administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Tú Anh, Rector, hosted the delegation and discussed the training and research outcomes related to AI of VNU-HCM in general and UIT in particular.

UIT showcased technology products by UIT faculty and students
Mr. Keith Strier also toured UIT’s Data Center and the NVIDIA DGX A100 AI supercomputer, a server used for in-depth AI algorithm research. The NVIDIA DGX A100 AI supercomputer, developed and manufactured by NVIDIA Corporation, was delivered to UIT on February 28th.

The visit, though brief, left a profound impression on the NVIDIA delegation regarding the quality of training, dynamism, and creativity of VNU-HCM students. The AI boom has made NVIDIA one of the most important tech companies globally, valued at over $2 trillion. Founded in 1993, NVIDIA is a "star" in the semiconductor industry, with its AI chip models continuously in high demand. In early 2022, the company announced the H100, the world's most powerful GPU at that time. Later that year, the sudden global popularity of ChatGPT caused NVIDIA's AI chips to become scarce. NVIDIA's market capitalization rose from $400 billion in January 2023 to $2 trillion at the beginning of this year.

It is known that NVIDIA's GPUs currently hold 80% of the global market share, maintaining NVIDIA's monopoly in this field and making it the world's most valuable chip manufacturer.
