UIT welcomes the delegation from Birmingham City
University, United Kingdom, for a visit and collaboration
On March 11, 2025, a delegation from Birmingham City University (BCU), United Kingdom, vconducted a working visit to University of Information Technology (UIT), VNU-HCM.
During this working visit, the delegation from BCU and UIT engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics aimed at fostering cooperation. The BCU delegation included Prof. Maxine Lintern - Vice Rector for Research, Dr. Robert Gibb - Associate Professor in charge of International Collaboration, and Ms. Karen Wilkinson - Head of Quality Assurance. On the UIT side, the attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan - Vice President, Dr. Ngo Duc Thanh - Dean of Faculty of Computer Science, MSc. Tran Thi Dung - Vice Dean of Faculty of Computer Networks and Communications, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Nam - Head of External Relations Office, MSc. Le Ngo Thuc Vi - Head of Excellent Programs Office, MSc. Nguyen Van Toan - Head of Student Affairs Office, along with representatives from various departments.
During the morning session, both parties exchanged perspectives on international collaboration, improving the quality of education and research, as well as key issues such as recruitment for the BCU International Joint Program and faculty development for specialized training.
Following the working session, the BCU delegation had the opportunity to explore UIT’s facilities, including state-of-the-art laboratories, a Data Center, the library, self-study rooms, and recreational areas supporting students' physical and mental well-being.
In the afternoon, the BCU delegation met with students from the BCU International Joint Program at UIT. This session provided a platform for students to share their learning experiences, academic goals, and future career aspirations within the joint program.
This visit not only deepened BCU's understanding of UIT’s potential and learning environment but also laid the groundwork for further cooperation in enhancing education and research quality. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to delivering international-standard training programs, expanding global career opportunities for students, and fostering advanced academic development.
The International Joint Program between Birmingham City University (BCU) and UIT was established in 2019, providing students with opportunities to earn an international bachelor's degree, achieve English proficiency, and prepare for global-standard computing careers. The program currently offers two majors: Computer Science, Computer Networks & Cybersecurity. Students can complete the entire 3.5-year program in Vietnam or transfer to BCU for their final year in the UK. This visit marks a new milestone in the collaboration between UIT & BCU, bringing valuable opportunities for both students and faculty!
