UIT is one of the chosen venues to host the ICPC National Contest in 2023. ICPC is a programming competition aimed at promoting intelligence, enhancing skills, fostering teamwork, and encouraging the use of the English language. To reach the global ICPC Finals, teams must go through School, Regional, National, and Continental rounds, competing on a global, equal footing.
ICPC is a prestigious certification that recognizes programming talent worldwide. Over its 70 years of existence, ICPC has provided a pool of high-quality talent for leading technology companies such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, Huawei, and more. In the 2019 summary, Bill Poucher, the Global ICPC President, stated, "From ICPC, there are up to 1,500 leaders of technology companies, with 20% working at Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, IBM... The first Google technology engineer was a champion team, and the first CTO of Facebook won the ICPC World Finals silver medal... From ICPC, students are selected with average salaries ranging from $30,000 to $320,000 USD per year."
The ICPC National Contest in 2023 will take place nationwide on November 5, 2023. In Ho Chi Minh City, UIT is one of the national round venues. The ICPC National Contest in 2023 will select the strongest teams across the country to represent Vietnam at the ICPC Asia Hue City 2023 competition from December 7 to December 8, 2023.
In the ICPC Asia programming contest held in 2021, each university was only allowed to enter one team. UIT participated with six teams, achieving one Silver Medal and four teams tied for third place. In 2022, at The 2022 ICPC Asia Ho Chi Minh City, UIT performed exceptionally well, winning 9 awards, including 3 Second Prizes and 6 Third Prizes.
