Commemorating the 93rd Anniversary of the Establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union

After a long journey of 93 years (26/3/1931 - 26/3/2024) of construction and development, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has continuously grown in both quantity and quality, deserving to be the reserve force and strong arm of the Party.

The commemoration of the 93rd anniversary of the Establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union is an occasion for the youth nationwide to express gratitude to the previous generations of young people. On this occasion, the UIT Youth Theory Club will help you understand more about the history and significance of the emblem of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

The emblem of the Union is a symbol of its glorious tradition. Looking at the emblem, we remember the previous generations of young people who devoted their youth, passion, and even their lives to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

At the National Youth Congress in 1951 in Viet Bac, the Central Committee of the Youth Union wanted the members to have a badge with their own emblem. Artists Huynh Van Thuan and Ton Duc Luong, entrusted by the Central Committee of the Union, were responsible for creating the emblem of the Union. The two models of the two artists were approved and submitted to Uncle Ho for approval. Uncle Ho approved the model by artist Huynh Van Thuan. He also wrote under the drawing: "Youth holding the red flag with the yellow star advancing."

The drawing depicts an arm firmly grasping the national flag advancing, implying that the youth are an important force in the cause of protecting and building the country, personally chosen by Uncle Ho. From then until now, the emblem of the Union has accompanied many generations of youth. It is also the pride of Vietnamese youth among international friends. Despite the different historical and political tasks and names of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in each period, the emblem of the Union still maintains its symbolic significance to many generations of Vietnamese youth.

The emblem of the Union reflects the spirit of initiative, pioneering, and readiness to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, as President Ho Chi Minh said about the emblem of the Union: "The emblem of the youth union is the hand holding the red flag with the yellow star advancing, its meaning is that young people must be vanguard models in all areas of work, in study, labor, and revolutionary ethics training. Young people must become a large and strong force in the national resistance, while also being joyful and active...".
