Graduating with a major in Information Security from the University of Information Technology (UIT) under the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, Doan Thien Phuc has continuously achieved admirable accomplishments in scientific research. The former UIT student has been selected twice for having the best research papers, including "DAVS: Dockerfile Analysis for Container Image Vulnerability Scanning" in 2021 and "GAN Discriminator based Audio Deepfake Detection" in 2023. Most recently, Phuc was one of the five researchers to receive the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Scientist Award in the field of information technology and communication at VYSK 2023 in South Korea.
After graduating from UIT, with a clear goal in mind, Thien Phuc was fortunate to connect with a fellow alumnus who was studying at Soongsil University in South Korea. Subsequently, the UIT graduate received assistance and was introduced to suitable research directions in the field of information security. This led Phuc to embark on a journey to South Korea for further study and research.

While active in UIT's Information Security Laboratory, Phuc received praise from Dr. Pham Van Hau, the Head of the Information Security Department, for his academic and research potential. This recognition further strengthened Phuc's determination to study abroad.
Currently, Phuc resides and works in South Korea. However, not many are aware that his initial choice was to study in Europe. Nevertheless, his journey in the land of South Korea has proven to be a remarkable and fulfilling one.
In the initial stages of preparing to study abroad, Phuc, like many other international students, felt somewhat lost. He said, "I was about to be far from my family and loved ones, so I felt a bit adrift at that time. I took the time to learn about the working culture in South Korea and picked up some Korean language skills. While still in Vietnam, I worked to save some money to cover my initial expenses before receiving a salary in Korea," Phuc said.
Coming from the Information Security field at UIT, Phuc quickly grasped and turned it into his advantage. Phuc mentioned that his strong knowledge foundation from his studies in Vietnam allowed him to catch up with the lab's progress and understand the ongoing research in a relatively short time. Additionally, his excellent communication skills made it easier for him to integrate.
Living and working in a foreign land, Phuc sometimes encounters cultural differences in the workplace compared to Vietnam. However, he shares that overcoming these challenges will lead to fruitful results. Furthermore, he harbors a dream of returning to UIT one day, standing in front of the students, and igniting their passion for Information Security.
