On March 30, 2024, the 2-day-1-night journey of Nang House visited the Tan Hiep Historical Relic Site (Tan Tien Ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province). Along with 5 other prisons - Con Dao, Phu Quoc, Chi Hoa, Thu Duc, and Phu Loi, Tan Hiep is considered the largest prison in the South with about 8,000 - 10,000 prisoners. From 1957-1975, at Tan Hiep prison, the US-backed Saigon regime detained more than 50,000 prisoners, the majority of whom were cadres, party members, and patriotic people from all provinces in the South.
The relic site stands as a vivid testament to the atrocities of the two imperialist wars waged by the French colonialists and the US-backed regime against our Vietnamese people. It is a "battlefield without borders" where revolutionary soldiers fought fiercely without weapons, facing brutal repression and torture from the enemy's stormy hands. Their heroic, indomitable spirit, unwavering determination, and steadfast loyalty to the Party and the homeland, despite torture and imprisonment until death, shine brightly.
During the visit to the relic site, camp participants paid homage to the national heroes, listened to historical stories, witnessed preserved artifacts, further deepening their emotional connection and gratitude towards the immense sacrifices and endurance of the people. It reinforces pride in the glorious history of the struggle in prisons, radiating the principles of humanitarianism and revolutionary heroism of Vietnam.
It is hoped that the participants had a memorable and meaningful journey, serving as a reminder to the younger generation of their responsibility to carry on the ancestral traditions and contribute to the development of the nation.
