On the morning of April 23, the Central Library (CL) collaborated with the Publishing House of the University of Ho Chi Minh City (Publishers) to organize the opening of the exhibition of research works with the theme: "Exhibition of Scientific Documents of VNUHCM in the 30-year journey", to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of VNUHCM (1995-2025). This event is in response to the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) and the World Book and Copyright Day (April 23).
The event was attended by Mr. Tran Anh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Student Affairs Committee of VNUHCM, and Chairman of the Trade Union of VNUHCM. From CL, there was Mr. Do Hoang Trieu, Deputy Director of CL. Representatives from libraries within the VNUHCM Library System attended, including Mr. Luong Minh Hoa, Director of the Natural Sciences University Library, along with representatives from Units under Cluster 4, staff from the Publishing House of VNUHCM, and students who attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Mr. Do Hoang Trieu, Deputy Director of CL, delivered the opening speech. He stated that the purpose of the exhibition is to introduce research works including books, proceedings, dissertations, etc., related to the development process closely linked with the training and research results of VNUHCM, aiming to widely disseminate to all employees, workers, students, and readers direct access channels to the research works of VNUHCM.
Activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of VNUHCM, in response to the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, include the following:
- Exhibition of Scientific Documents of VNUHCM in the 30-year journey;
- Experience "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space at the University of Ho Chi Minh City in virtual reality";
- Launch and organization of the "Cultural Reading Ambassador 2024" competition initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is an activity for students nationwide, encouraging the sharing and spreading of the love for reading to form habits and reading skills for young generations, thereby igniting passion, creativity, promoting the reading movement, and developing reading culture in the community. The Central Library will organize the preliminary round starting from April and ending in early June 2024 with many attractive prizes for contestants. The organizing committee of the preliminary round will select the top 03 outstanding entries to send to the final round organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Exhibition of Scientific Documents of VNUHCM takes place from April 23, 2024, to May 23, 2024, at the 1st-floor Lobby, Central Library of VNUHCM.
