In response to the Vietnamese Book and Reading Culture Day on April 21, 2024, and World Book and Copyright Day on April 23, 2024.
The Library of the University of Information Technology (UIT) is implementing the Plan to organize the "UIT Cultural Ambassador Reading Contest" in 2024, as follows:
- TARGET AUDIENCE:
Students currently studying at the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City.
- COMPETITION CONTENT:
2.1. Students participating in the contest choose one of the following two topics:
(Note: During participation, students may directly meet with staff at the Service Counters for further discussion and necessary support related to the contest)
Topic 1:
Question 1: Which literary work has inspired and enhanced your awareness towards a positive lifestyle, social responsibility, awakened the spirit of dedication, and contributed to the development and prosperity of Vietnam?
Question 2: Write a proposal aimed at promoting reading among specific groups: residents in border areas and islands, economically and socially disadvantaged regions, ethnic minorities, elderly people, people with disabilities, etc. (Include objectives, beneficiary groups, content of the proposed activities, expected outcomes. Encourage proposals that have been applied in practice and have evidence of effectiveness).
Topic 2:
Question 1: Write a literary work (short story) to promote the love of reading, awaken a sense of responsibility towards oneself, family, society, and evoke pride in the nation and patriotism.
Question 2: Write a proposal aimed at promoting reading among specific groups: residents in border areas and islands, economically and socially disadvantaged regions, ethnic minorities, elderly people, people with disabilities, etc. (Include objectives, beneficiary groups, content of the proposed activities, expected outcomes. Encourage proposals that have been applied in practice and have evidence of effectiveness).
2.2. Requirements:

The contest entry must fully answer the two questions in the provided topics (see the accompanying topics). Entries must be wholesome, in line with Vietnamese customs and culture, ensure accuracy, information security, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Books shared in the contest entry must be legally published in Vietnam (participants are encouraged to share recently published books with current and relevant themes, reflecting aspirations for social contribution). Please include specific and complete publication information for each shared book.

Entries selected for the Final Round must include Participant Information (according to the provided template) and must be free of spelling errors, textual errors, and must not contain any additional marks or symbols.

Participants should include a Certificate of Participation in reading promotion activities at schools, localities, or communities, for additional encouragement points.
Other requirements:

Contest entries must be the original work of the individual participant (Video entries must be performed by the participant, including narration and storytelling), not previously exhibited, displayed, published in print or online media, or entered into any other competition.

Entries using content, excerpts, quotes, images, or artwork from others must provide full citations. Video entries using images, songs, or audio must comply with intellectual property rights, author rights, and related rights regulations; participants are responsible for any legal disputes related to copyright infringement (if any).

Entries submitted for the contest will not be returned to participants; the Organizing Committee may use contest entries for promotion purposes and to serve reading promotion activities, but will not be responsible for any copyright or related rights disputes related to the contest entries.
2.3. Contest Format:
Each participant must submit an independent contest entry (not in groups), presented in Vietnamese language, using one of the following formats:
Written (typed or handwritten):
Contest entries must not exceed 5,000 words (15 typed pages).
Video:
Minimum duration of 5 minutes, maximum duration of 10 minutes; participants may use effects and visual/audio enhancements while ensuring image and sound quality; maximum file size of 2GB, minimum resolution of 480px, frame size of at least 854 x 480 or higher; saved in common formats such as .mp4, .avi, .mpeg, .mkv, .klv... and suitable for uploading to YouTube.

Judging, award announcement, and contest summary:
The Organizing Committee will judge, summarize, and announce the awards for the "UIT Cultural Ambassador Reading Contest" in 2024, expected to be at the end of June 2024.
The awards include:
01 First Prize: Certificate + 800,000 VND
02 Second Prizes: Certificate + 500,000 VND each
03 Third Prizes: Certificate + 300,000 VND each
05 Encouragement Prizes: Certificate + 200,000 VND each.
Note:
The top 03 contest entries will be submitted by the Organizing Committee to participate in the "Cultural Ambassador Reading Contest" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from July to October 2024.
