Commemorating the 74th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of Students and Youth Union of Vietnam (01/09/1950 - 01/09/2024)

On January 9, 1950, a demonstration took place with over 2,000 students, teachers, and 7,000 citizens in Saigon - Cholon, demanding security for students, freedom for arrested students, and the reopening of schools. In that confrontation, the heroic sacrifice of student Tran Van On from Petrus Ky School, an active member of the patriotic student movement and a member of the Youth Union of Southern Vietnam, became the "spark" that ignited numerous struggles among students nationwide.

The 1st National Youth Union Congress in February 1950 in Viet Bac decided to designate January 9 annually as the Traditional Day of Students and Youth Union nationwide. The 5th National Congress of the Vietnamese Student Association held in November 1993 in Hanoi also decided to recognize January 9 as the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Student Association. The courageous spirit of Tran Van On lit a flame, turning into beacons guiding students to engage in the nation's great struggle, forging a heroic era in the fierce red fire.

Amidst the jubilant atmosphere of youth union members and students nationwide, the Student Union of the University of Information Technology, HCMC - Vietnam National University, expresses gratitude and appreciation to all students and individuals who have contributed to the continuous success throughout the significant milestones in history.

It is hoped that the youth of UIT in particular, and the younger generation nationwide, will continue to strive, be passionate, and innovative, aiming towards the sustainable and youthful development of our country.
