On the morning of October 4th, in room E.1.1, the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City (UIT), held a discussion on potential collaborations with Macquarie University, Australia.
Representatives from Macquarie University included Professor Michael Sheng, Head of the School of Computing, and Jessica (Tra My) PHAM, Vietnam Country Manager for Global and Domestic Student Recruitment.
UIT representatives included Associate Professor Ho Thi Minh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Office of External Relations; Dr. Lam Duc Khai, Head of the Undergraduate Training Division; Dr. Ngo Duc Thanh, Head of the Computer Science Department; Associate Professor Le Thanh Trong, Deputy Head of the Software Engineering Department; Dr. Do Trong Hop, lecturer in the Information Systems and Technology Department; Ms. Duong Kim Thuy Linh, Specialist of the Office of External Relations; and Ms. Trinh My Hanh, Specialist of the Office of External Relations.
At this meeting, Macquarie University discussed potential collaborative programs for undergraduate and master's degrees in the field of Information Technology. They also explored the possibilities of academic exchange, research collaboration, and short-term exchange programs. UIT proposed discussions on international collaboration in fields such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Games, and more.
Regarding cooperation on scientific research projects for undergraduate and postgraduate students, Macquarie University suggested that students could participate in internship programs in companies or bring their practical projects to Macquarie University for students to work on.
Macquarie University has a history of collaborating with universities in Asia, such as in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. In Vietnam, they have established partnerships with several institutions in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The representatives from Macquarie University emphasized that the IT sector offers many employment opportunities in Australia, creating great potential for cooperation in education, scientific research, and student exchanges between UIT and Macquarie University. They also mentioned a student exchange program for postgraduate students, in which the Australian government provides full financial support for students joining the program in 1 or 2 semesters.
In addition to these discussions, both universities also explored scholarship policies and proposed a 2+2 program collaboration in fields such as Software Engineering, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence.
