The meeting between UIT and the PHER project expert delegation

On the morning of January 10, 2025, at Room E1.1 of the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM (UIT), a working session with the PHER expert delegation was held. The meeting focused on surveying the current status of cooperation between universities within VNU-HCM and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces, as well as plans to develop future collaborative relationships.

The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Lưu Thùy Ngân – Vice Rector of UIT.

Representing the PHER delegation were Ms. Lê Thu Hiền – Director of the Asia Foundation Program and Ms. Nguyễn Thu Hằng – Senior Program Officer, Asia Foundation. UIT’s delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Lưu Thùy Ngân – Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Đình Duy – Head of the Graduate Studies & Research Department, MSc. Nguyễn Văn Toàn – Head of the Student Affairs Department, and MSc. Nguyễn Tuấn Nam – Head of the External Relations Department.

During the meeting, UIT emphasized its strong strategy of collaborating with large enterprises in the technology sector, aiming to create opportunities for students to engage in activities such as job fairs, scholarships, and access to job opportunities. UIT is also expanding cooperation to not only help businesses find skilled labor but also participate in joint teaching and research projects. In addition, since 2024, UIT has implemented a policy to support students in carrying out their graduation projects with selected partner businesses. The university ensures that businesses assign appropriate tasks aligned with students' majors, providing them with opportunities to practice and develop in real-world environments.

The meeting concluded successfully

The PHER delegation expressed a desire to learn more about UIT’s current cooperation with businesses and the need for further partnerships, aiming to deploy appropriate support activities that align with the practical needs of VNU-HCM and its member universities. The delegation also shared plans to establish a cooperation framework related to faculty expertise, aiming to develop commercially applicable research for the benefit of businesses.

At the end of the meeting, the PHER experts acknowledged the practical insights shared by UIT regarding its partnerships with businesses, and they highly appreciated the university’s efforts in building and developing strategic partnerships, creating opportunities for students to access real-world working environments and develop professional skills.
