More than 150 union members participated in the Sepak Takraw Tournament to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Army of Vietnam (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2023).

On the morning of December 17, at the Center for Defense and Security Education (GDQPAN), the Trade Union of Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNUHCM) organized a Sepak Takraw Tournament to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Army of Vietnam (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2023) and the 34th anniversary of the National Defense Day in 2023 (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2023). The event aimed to provide a healthy playground for officials, civil servants, and workers; enhance physical fitness, improve health, and contribute to building and popularizing the sports training movement within the union members. It also aimed to strengthen exchanges and solidarity among the grassroots unions under the VNUHCM Trade Union.

Attending the event were Comrade Le Thi Hong Nhan, Vice Chairman of the VNUHCM Trade Union; Dr. Pham Huynh Minh Hung, Director of the VNUHCM Branch in Ben Tre province; Master Tran Van Giao, Deputy Director of the GDQPAN Center; comrades in the Executive Committee of the VNUHCM Trade Union, and representatives of the Executive Committee of the grassroots Trade Union, especially with the participation of more than 150 athletes and spectators from 14 competing teams of 17 grassroots trade unions.

This is the first sports event organized at the VNUHCM Trade Union to introduce and develop a new sport within the framework of sports activities organized by the VNUHCM Trade Union.

With the spirit of "Unity - Nobility - Honesty," the athletes enthusiastically participated in the competition through the preliminary rounds.

As a result, the team from the Vocational High School Foundation Union won the First Prize; the Second Prize went to the team from the Management and Development Center of the Urban Area Union; and the teams from the GDQPAN Center and the International University Union shared the Third Prize. The Encouragement Prize was awarded to the unions at the grassroots level, including the University of Technology Union, the University of Natural Sciences Union, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Union, and the Dormitory Management Center. The Movement Prize belonged to the grassroots unions, including the University of Economics and Law Union, the University of Information Technology Union, the VNUHCM Office, the Institute of Environment & Resources, the VNUHCM Branch in Ben Tre province, and the Joint Forces (Software Technology Zone, Investment Promotion & Project Management Center, Project Management Board of VNUHCM).
