Over 800 lecturers and students attend public lecture on AI

More than 800 lecturers and students from the University of Science - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) participated in the program "Public Lectures on Artificial Intelligence (AI)" organized by VNUHCM and Deakin University at Tran Chi Dao Hall, VNUHCM Management Building on the afternoon of April 8.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Triet analyzed the applications of AI in smart healthcare.

Leading AI experts from both universities shared the latest achievements and challenges, as well as the application potential of AI in various fields, especially in healthcare and biomedical research.

Discussing the theme "AI Generative: Changing the Landscape of AI," Prof. Tran The Truyen, Head of the AI, Health, and Science group at the A2I2 Institute, Deakin University, introduced basic concepts of generative AI and highlighted its potential to transform industries, democratize creativity, and enhance human-machine collaboration.

Prof. Truyen believes that generative AI can enhance learning experiences, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and open up new avenues for research and risk management.

Immediately following Prof. Tran The Truyen's lecture, Prof. Sunil Gupta - Head of the AI, Optimization, and Materials Discovery group at the A2I2 Institute, Deakin University, analyzed the role of AI in driving scientific discovery.

According to Prof. Sunil Gupta, AI has made significant strides in addressing real-world challenges such as automated decision-making, computer vision, and natural language processing. With its immense potential, AI promises to revolutionize scientific fields, key to human survival and progress. However, the scarcity of large-scale scientific data for training AI models remains a barrier.

Prof. Gupta also discussed effective AI sampling methods, leveraging AI to rapidly develop new products and processes to meet specific goals; using AI to accelerate clinical trials, enabling timely innovations for effective interventions, treatments, and therapies.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Triet - Vice Rector of the University of Science, VNUHCM, concluded the program with a lecture on "Applications of AI and Human-Computer Interaction in Smart Healthcare."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Triet presented breakthrough applications of AI and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in smart healthcare, particularly in areas such as X-ray, CT or MRI image classification, polyp segmentation, 3D segmentation, and integration of virtual reality and augmented reality (VR) in medical field training, functional recovery, and therapy.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Triet shed light on the potential of AI and HCI in improving healthcare services, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and addressing challenges in data management, information security to deliver accessible, efficient, patient-focused smart healthcare.
