Seminar Semiconductor Chip design

Currently, the Integrated Circuit Design industry has been experiencing significant and promising developments. In particular, the semiconductor industry has become a cutting-edge sector for many countries worldwide. In Vietnam, recent statistics from Technavio Research Company indicate that the semiconductor market is expected to increase by an additional 1.65 billion USD from 2021 to 2025, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of approximately 6.52% per year. This demonstrates the increasing importance of the Integrated Circuit industry.

Moreover, according to the assessment of Associate Professor Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, Vice Rector of the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University, some businesses in Southeast Asia are also interested in recruiting personnel in Vietnam. "This industry is increasingly in need of skilled workforce and promises to boom in the coming years," said Professor Khang.

Furthermore, the career opportunities for students in the Integrated Circuit Design field are very high due to the shortage of skilled professionals. At Hanoi University of Technology, Professor Minh stated that 100% of students specializing in Integrated Circuit Design are welcomed upon graduation, with immediate employment. The starting salary for new engineers is around 15-20 million VND, equivalent to the Information Technology industry. Additionally, after 5-10 years in the profession, the salary for Integrated Circuit engineers is more than one and a half times higher than that of the Information Technology industry, reaching 2,500-3,000 USD per month (60-70 million VND).

Recognizing these trends, the Computer Engineering Department of the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University, invited speaker Mr. Bach Luong to provide students with a comprehensive and detailed view of the semiconductor field. The seminar also offered information on the semiconductor chip design process, helping students gain valuable knowledge in this specialized field and find suitable career directions for the future.

On February 27, 2024, at the "SEMICONDUCTOR CHIP DESIGN" seminar, Mr. Bach Luong shared interesting insights into the semiconductor market, the semiconductor technology map in Vietnam, and an overview of the semiconductor design process. Additionally, the speaker discussed the semiconductor chip design career, compared the starting salaries of engineers in the United States with those in Vietnam. Furthermore, Mr. Bach Luong addressed innovations, opportunities, and challenges in this field to provide a balanced perspective on employment opportunities in Vietnam and the United States.

With the familiar and engaging sharing from the speaker, the seminar created a lively and close atmosphere for the students. This is precisely the atmosphere that the Computer Engineering Department aims to foster. The hope is that this interesting and informative seminar has provided students with a broader view of the potential and future directions of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
