In an effort to promote the scientific research engagement of faculty members and students, the Faculty of Software Technology organized a seminar on November 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM in room E7.3. The seminar focused on the topic "An Optimal Power System Operation Planning Based on Enhanced Cuckoo Search Algorithm," presented by Dr. Nguyen Trinh Dong.
The presentation discussed the crucial factor in the operation and optimization of the power system known as Economic Load Dispatch (ELD), aiming to reduce overall production costs while addressing operational constraints. The research proposed an Enhanced Cuckoo Search Algorithm (ECSA) to tackle the ELD problem. The parasitic behavior of certain cuckoo species inspired the classical Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), an optimization algorithm inspired by nature. The proposed modifications aim to enhance the algorithm's performance in terms of convergence speed, solution quality, and reliability. ECSA integrates advanced techniques such as dynamic parameter control, adaptive step size, and local search methods. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method were confirmed using standard ELD test systems, and the results were compared with those of other optimization algorithms described in the literature. Experimental findings demonstrated ECSA's superiority in terms of convergence speed, solution quality, and reliability, making it a potential strategy for addressing the ELD problem in power systems.
Lecturers from the faculty actively participated in the seminar, engaging in discussions on related issues.
