UIT Collaborates with Kyushu University, Japan: Opening New Opportunities for International Cooperation

On the afternoon of March 18, at room E1.1, the University of Information Technology (UIT) held a meeting with Kyushu University, Japan. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between the two universities, particularly in the areas of training, scientific research, and student exchange.

The delegation from Kyushu University included Prof. Shimizu Shuji, Vice President, Institute of Asian and Oceanian studies; Prof. Hattori Reiji, Faculty of Engineering Sciences and Center for Semiconductor and Device Ecosystem (CSeDe); and Prof. Ago Hiroki, Faculty of Engineering Sciences and Center for Semiconductor and Device Ecosystem (CSeDe).

On UIT's side, the delegation was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan, Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Minh Son, Dean of the Computer Engineering Faculty; Dr. Doan Duy, Vice Dean of the Computer Engineering Faculty; Dr. Duong Ngoc Hao, Deputy Head of Graduate Academic Affairs – Science Technology Office; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Le Huy, Head of the Microchip Design & Hardware Department, Computer Engineering Faculty; along with faculty members from the Computer Engineering Faculty.

The University of Information Technology has implemented a Japan-oriented program since 2018, attracting around 100 students each year. After completing the program, most students go on to work at Japanese companies, both domestically and internationally. To equip students with solid foundations, UIT organizes Japanese language courses that help them reach the N3 level by the time they graduate, giving them a competitive edge in the global workforce. In addition, specialized courses such as Software Testing and AI are taught directly by Japanese professors, offering students an opportunity to access advanced knowledge in an international-standard environment.

The meeting between the two institutions presented numerous opportunities for future cooperation.

Not only focused on training, UIT has also actively expanded academic cooperation. In the past year, the university has hosted students and lecturers from Chiba University and Saga University for research and study, further strengthening the partnership with Japanese institutions. Additionally, the international internship program with universities such as NARA offers valuable real-world experience for UIT students, especially those from the Computer Engineering Faculty, with 10 internship credits included in the curriculum. Notably, organizations such as NARA and NII also provide financial support for UIT students participating in exchange programs in Japan, with flexible durations ranging from a few months to a semester.

Beyond student cooperation, UIT is also developing a long-term plan for the Visiting Professor program, aimed at inviting Japanese professors to teach, conduct research, and organize seminars to enhance the quality of education and research at UIT. This initiative not only marks a significant step forward in improving education and research at UIT but also opens many future opportunities for international networking and cooperation.

The meeting concluded with promising cooperation directions, offering many development opportunities for students and lecturers in academic exchange, international internships, and research.
