AI Expert Shares Unique Perspective on Artificial Intelligence with UIT Students

On the morning of March 5th, in Hall E of the University of Information Technology - VNUHCM,  a scientific seminar titled "Hybrid Minds: Radically Reimagining the Future of Intelligence" took place, presented by Dr. Olaf Witkowski, a leading expert in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Attending the event were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan - Vice President of the University of Information Technology - VNUHCM, along with faculty members and UIT students.

A large number of UIT students attended the seminar.

Dr. Olaf Witkowski is a foremost expert in AI and Artificial Life based in Kyoto, Japan. He is the founding director of Cross Labs, a research institute in Japan focusing on intelligence in biological and synthetic systems, and serves as the Chairman of the Board of the International Society for Artificial Life, as well as the CEO of the leading AI company, Cross Compass. Additionally, he holds a position as a lecturer at the University of Tokyo and has co-founded numerous science and technology ventures across three continents.

During the seminar, Dr. Olaf Witkowski shared his fascinating insights and unique perspectives on AI. He discussed the potential and challenges of combining human and machine capabilities. Lastly, Dr. Olaf Witkowski introduced the latest research and applications in this field.

The seminar provided UIT students with valuable information.

According to Dr. Olaf Witkowski, intelligence is not merely about passing exams, excelling in chess, or memorizing many books. Intelligence is broader and can develop in various ways. In his discussion, he guided students to explore intelligence from a wider perspective, not only in humans but also in biology, AI, and other forms of life, including hybrids. His insights demonstrated that AI is not just a tool for humans to use and transfer calculations but also genuine partners through which humans can enhance their cognition and self-awareness.

Students gained a deeper understanding of AI through the seminar.

The sharing session with the expert provided students with the opportunity to explore many interesting concepts, fostered interest in the field of study, and helped broaden their perspectives, guiding them towards future career paths.
