On November 30, 2023, the Computer Engineering Department welcomed the working delegation from the Semiconductor Association of Korea (KSIA) and ADT Korea to explore and learn about the training activities at the University of Information Technology - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UIT), specifically in the field of Microchip Design workforce training at the Computer Engineering Department.

Representatives from the Computer Engineering Department presented and provided the visiting delegation with information about the training and research position of Ho Chi Minh City National University; the scale of training, training professions, and research activities of the University of Information Technology; the training and research capabilities of the Computer Engineering Department in the fields of Microchip Design, Embedded Systems and IoT Design, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence. The Computer Engineering Department also shared information with ADT Company, KSIA about community activities and the achievements of Computer Engineering students in specialized academic competitions both domestically and internationally.

The visiting delegation from the Semiconductor Association of Korea (KSIA) and ADT Company highly praised the achievements of the Computer Engineering Department in training Microchip Design personnel because a significant number of engineers working at ADT Company with excellent capabilities graduated from the Computer Engineering Department, University of Information Technology.

Furthermore, both sides discussed the development direction of the Microchip Design workforce, the Semiconductor Technology sector, and the demand for Microchip Design personnel, as well as the workforce in packaging and testing microchips in Korea and Vietnam. Mr. KIM - President of the Semiconductor Association of Korea (KSIA) provided information about the direction of the UIT's Microchip Design workforce development, which is very suitable for the increasing global demand for Microchip Design personnel, especially in Korea, from 2024 to 2030. In particular, the South Korean government and Korean Semiconductor Design companies have policies and demand to recruit Vietnamese Microchip Design Engineers to work in Korea in the near future.

It is expected that in 2024, the University of Information Technology - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City will enroll students in the Microchip Design major with a target of 150 students to meet the high demand for human resources in Vietnam during the period from 2023 to 2030.
