Ho Chi Minh City National University (HCMC-NU) is recruiting scientists with attractive welfare policies

In order to realize the development vision of Ho Chi Minh City National University (HCMC-NU) to become a leading research university system in Asia, gathering talents and spreading knowledge, Vietnamese culture, HCMC-NU officially recruits outstanding young scientists, leading scientists to work at HCMC-NU.

HCMC-NU is currently the leading unit in the country in international publications. In 2023 alone, HCMC-NU published over 2,500 papers in the Scopus index. HCMC-NU is leading various national science and technology programs.

In the first recruitment round of 2024, HCMC-NU will recruit 65 positions for its member units. HCMC-NU aims to recruit 350 scientists in the future under the VNU350 Program.

I. QUALIFICATIONS, RECRUITMENT CRITERIA

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree;
  • Have the ability to teach and conduct independent research;
  • Have the ambition and desire to contribute to the country's development and HCMC-NU.

Young scientists need to meet at least 1 of the following 4 criteria:

  1. Have scientific papers published in reputable journals or conferences;
  2. Have registered and successfully patented inventions or innovations;
  3. Have transferred scientific products or technologies;
  4. Have new and promising research directions that align with HCMC-NU's development strategy.

Leading scientists need to meet all 5 criteria:

  1. Lead a research group or be the head of a laboratory;
  2. Take charge of scientific projects and technology projects;
  3. Have published works in reputable scientific journals or possess exclusive patents or inventions;
  4. Have experience in teaching and guiding research students;
  5. Have relationships and collaborations nationally and internationally (be a member of international scientific and technological organizations, participate in international conferences and workshops, edit or review papers for international journals).

II. WELFARE POLICIES

Excellent young scientists and leading scientists participating in the VNU350 Program will receive support policies from HCMC-NU and specific support policies from each recruiting unit.

Excellent young scientists:

  • In the first 2 years, receive funding for one Class C scientific research project, with a maximum budget of VND 200 million;
  • In the 3rd year, receive funding for one Class B project, with a maximum budget of VND 1 billion;
  • In the 4th year, receive support for investing in a laboratory for scientific research, with a maximum budget of VND 10 billion;
  • In the 5th year, receive support and guidance for the procedure of being recognized as an Associate Professor by the State.

Leading scientists:

  • In the first 2 years, receive funding for one Class B scientific research project, with a maximum budget of VND 1 billion;
  • In subsequent years, receive support for investing in a laboratory for scientific research, with a maximum budget of VND 30 billion; receive support for establishing a strong research group; receive support for registering as the principal investigator for projects at various levels.

Scientists will receive income and other benefits according to the specific policies of the unit where the scientist is assigned, including salary, bonuses, allowances, additional income, teaching over-quota allowances, seniority allowances, scientific research allowances, and unexpected awards.

III. RECRUITMENT QUOTAS FOR THE FIRST ROUND IN 2024

  • University of Technology: 09 positions.
  • University of Natural Sciences: 08 positions.
  • University of Social Sciences and Humanities: 05 positions.
  • International University: 05 positions.
  • University of Information Technology: 13 positions.
  • University of Economics and Law: 05 positions.
  • An Giang University: 05 positions.
  • Institute of Environment and Resources: 05 positions.
  • Medical School: 05 positions.
  • Center for Nanostructure and Molecular Material Research (INOMAR): 03 positions.
  • Nano Technology Institute: 02 positions.

IV. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

Candidates need to prepare a competency profile according to the following requirements:

  1. A letter expressing their aspirations;
  2. Academic resume;
  3. Personal development plan for the next 5 years if selected;
  4. Project proposal following HCMC-NU's template;
  5. Supporting documents demonstrating competence, work experience, achievements relevant to the attracting position requirements.
