ICPC Central Region Update - UIT Maintains Top Position

Scoring 11 problems collectively, the team UIT.KNS.Love_is_pain continues to stand among the top-performing teams at the ICPC 2023 Central Region.

On the morning of October 22, the ICPC Central Region Qualification Round took place at Hue University - Huế University, attracting significant attention from the programming and computer science community in the region. This was the final regional qualification round before advancing to the national competition, which is scheduled for November 5, 2023.

This round featured 546 participating teams, including 69 teams from universities in the Central Region and 148 teams from high schools.

The ICPC Central Region Qualification Round started at 8 AM and lasted until 1 PM. During these 5 hours, teams had to strive to solve 13 algorithmic problems with diverse and clearly defined content. By solving these problems, participants had the opportunity to hone their programming skills, logical thinking, and teamwork capabilities.

Out of the 546 participating teams, 437 teams solved at least one problem. Notably, 12 teams solved 11 out of the 13 problems, marking an impressive achievement and showcasing the strong coding skills and experience of the participants.

Among them, team UIT.KNS.Love_is_pain (comprised of first-year Computer Science students in the talented program) reaffirmed their position by solving 11 problems. Previously, UIT.KNS.Love_is_pain had secured FIRST PLACE in the ICPC 2023 South Region.

In addition, 15 teams solved 10 problems, 33 teams solved 9 problems, 39 teams solved 8 problems, 36 teams solved 7 problems, 50 teams solved 6 problems, and 21 teams solved 5 problems, among others.

On November 5, the ICPC National Competition 2023 is expected to be held at 17 centralized examination venues across the country:

Venue 1: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi (45-60 teams).

Venue 2: Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Hanoi (30 teams).

Venue 3: Hanoi National University of Education (40 teams).

Venue 4 (tentative): Amsterdam High School, Hanoi (encouraging high schools) (20-30 teams).

Venue 5 (tentative): Hanoi University of Science and Technology (20-30 teams).

Venue 6: University of Science - Ho Chi Minh City (60 teams).

Venue 7: University of Education - Ho Chi Minh City (25-30 teams).

Venue 8: High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences and Mathematics - Ho Chi Minh City (25-30 teams) - exclusively for high schools.

Venue 9: University of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City (25-30 teams).

Venue 10 (new venue): Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City (20-25 teams).

Venue 11: Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (encouraging high schools) (25-30 teams).

Venue 12: University of Science, Hue University (30-50 teams).

Venue 13: Nha Trang University (15-25 teams).

Venue 14: College of Information Technology and Communications, Can Tho University (15-25 teams).

Venue 15: Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An (encouraging high schools) - (10-15 teams).

Venue 16 (tentative): Halong High School, Quang Ninh - (15-20 teams).

Venue 17: Thang Long High School, Da Lat (regional high schools in Lam Dong, Central Highlands).

Venue 18 (other): Teams to be considered for online proctored exams by the organizing committee.
