Information Security Students - Faculty of Computer Network and Communications Attend Data for Life 2023 Competition in Hanoi

At the beginning of 2024, students who major in Information Security, under the Faculty of Computer Network and Communication Faculty, participated in the preliminary round of the Data for Life 2023 competition in Hanoi.

On the morning of January 3, 2024, Vo Quang Minh and Bui Tan Hai Dang, Information Security students - Computer Network and Communication Faculty, participated in the preliminary round of the Data for Life 2023 competition. The event was organized by the National Population Data Center, the Administrative Management Police Department, Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with Hanoi University of Science Technology, VTV Television Station, and VNExpress newspaper.

The preliminary round took place over two days at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (January 3, 2024), and the Vietnam Television (VTV) Studio (January 4, 2024).

The members of team W1.Sharkeyes participated in the competition with the theme "Detection of Fraudulent Websites Based on Multi-Method Deep Learning to Evade User Protection." The team consists of talented Information Security students from the class of 2020 (Faculty of Computer Networks and Communications) who are actively involved in scientific research within the Wanna.W1n - Information Security Research Club.

The team's application, named Shark-eyes, operates as a browser extension installed on users' web browsers. It functions in real-time to protect users from fraudulent websites.

The competition aims to attract resources from the young talent community to collaborate with the Ministry of Public Security and the Government, fostering innovation and developing practical information technology ideas and products. Solutions revolve around three pillars: e-government - promoting effective public services, digital society - enhancing social welfare services, and digital economy - promoting economic development.

The Data for Life 2023 competition, organized by the Administrative Management Police Department for Social Order (C06) - Ministry of Public Security, has been ongoing since August 7, 2023, in collaboration with Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam Television, and VnExpress newspaper.

The competition consists of three rounds: online application submission (197 teams), initial selection (41 teams), preliminary round (10 teams), and then awards will be presented to the top 5 outstanding teams. The final round is scheduled to take place on December 9-10, 2023, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The total expected prize pool is 370 million VND, with the first and second prizes being 200 million and 100 million VND, respectively.
