Official Assessment of Three Training Programs by the ASIIN Accreditation Agency

On November 15 and 16, 2023, the Faculty of Information Systems - University of Information Technology welcomed the visit and practical work of the Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics (ASIIN).

During this visit, the Faculty of Information Science underwent an official assessment according to ASIIN standards for three training programs, including: Bachelor's in Information Systems, Bachelor's in E-Commerce, and Master's in Information Systems. The Faculty of Information Systems is the first faculty at the University to participate in the accreditation of training programs according to ASIIN standards.

ASIIN is a reputable accreditation organization within the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), conducting assessments and recognition for higher education institutions and degree programs in natural sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, and information technology. ASIIN is well-known for its strict evaluation criteria and thorough assessment processes, and ASIIN certification is highly regarded in the academic community.

The two-day visit and work were conducted by a group of experts from ASIIN. The assessors were renowned experts and scholars in the fields of Information Systems and E-Commerce.

The assessment team consisted of 5 members:

  1. Prof. Dr. Susanne Robra-Bissant, Department of Business Sciences, Technische University Braunschweig, Germany
  2. Prof. Dr. Ulrich Frank, Chair of Information Systems and Enterprise Modeling, University of Duisburg – Essen, Germany
  3. Mr. Daniel Seegers, ASIIN agency representative
  4. Mr. Thien Nguyen, Head of Software Development, SGH-Asia
  5. Mr. Le Quoc Nam, Senior student at International University, VNU-HCM

This organization conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the training programs in various aspects, including learning outcomes, curriculum frameworks, faculty, infrastructure, quality assurance, and the connection between the university, students, and the business community. The goal of this visit was to provide the accreditation team with a comprehensive overview of the activities, infrastructure, faculty, students, and academic environment of the Faculty and the University, evaluating the commitments of the Faculty and the University to academic quality, innovation, and appropriateness to ensure that the training programs meet the strict standards set by ASIIN.

During the two-day visit, the assessment team participated in various activities, including meetings with university leaders, employers, faculty, students, and other stakeholders. They also visited classrooms, laboratories, research facilities, and other important areas to observe the infrastructure and resources of the University and the Faculty.

The Faculty of Information Systems sincerely thanks the experts in the accreditation team for their visit and practical work at the University. Special thanks to the University's Leadership for creating favorable conditions for the Faculty to successfully organize this visit. Appreciation goes to the Departments, Offices, Faculties, esteemed Teachers, partners from the business community, former master's students, alumni, current master's students, and students who supported and participated in the interview sessions, contributing to the overall success of the ASIIN accreditation visit to the University.

The successful organization of this visit has increased expectations for the recognition of the Faculty of Information Systems - University of Information Technology in the official report expected to be provided in February 2024.
