Opening Ceremony of the Faculty Union Sports Tournament of University of Information Technology 2024

On the morning of March 28th, the Faculty Union Sports Tournament officially kicked off with many exciting activities. This is an opportunity for union members to improve their physical fitness, create a fun and healthy playground, connect with each other, and respond to the spirit of sports and physical education, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of work for the entire Faculty Union, aiming to achieve the goal of "Being healthy to teach well and work well."

The tournament is organized by the Faculty Union of the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024), the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Ho Chi Minh City National University, and the 18th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Information Technology.

The opening ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan - Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang - Vice Rector, MSc. Dang Van Em - Chairman of the Faculty Union, MSc. Nguyen Thanh Hiep - Secretary of the Youth Union, and all faculty and staff members of the University of Information Technology.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan encouraged all staff and workers participating in the tournament: "To ensure the success of the Sports Tournament, I suggest that all athletes compete enthusiastically, with honesty, in a spirit of joy and solidarity to ensure the success of the tournament. I request the referees to officiate the matches objectively, impartially, and accurately, in accordance with the regulations. I also request the Organizing Committee to regularly monitor, support, and create favorable conditions for athletes to achieve the best results in their competitions."

The Faculty Union Sports Tournament is an annual event of the University of Information Technology to seek outstanding athletes in all sports disciplines to form the university team, participating in major tournaments of Ho Chi Minh City National University and the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union.

In 2024, the tournament will take place from March to May, with teams drawn and competing directly to find the winning team for further competition in the semifinals and finals. The tournament consists of 11 main competition categories: Soft volleyball, Men's mini football, Women's mini football, Friendly football, Jump rope, Cross-country running, Slow cycling, Drawing contest, Table tennis, Badminton, Tug of war.

During the morning of the Opening Ceremony, two competition categories, jump rope and cross-country running, were held with the participation of many faculty and staff members. MSc. Dang Van Em shared, "The spirit of participation in the tournament of our teachers and staff is very enthusiastic. About 180 athletes registered for various sports disciplines in the tournament plan. Today, about 100 athletes participated in this event with a very high determination to win."

According to MSc. Dang Van Em, in the future, the university's Faculty Union plans to organize a variety of sports disciplines, extend the duration so that faculty and staff members can participate monthly, and include more teamwork sports to foster even greater unity within the unit.

The Opening Ceremony of the Faculty Union Sports Tournament concluded in a joyful and festive atmosphere, officially ushering in exciting sports competitions in the days to come.
