On the morning of December 6, 2023, at the University of Sciences, Hue University, the 32nd National Student Computer Science Olympiad (OLP’23), Procon Vietnam, and the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia - Hue City 2023 officially kicked off.

UIT Team is Ready to Compete

OLP’23, Procon, and ICPC Asia Hue City bring together the most outstanding information technology (IT) students from universities and colleges nationwide. This event honors technological talent for international-scale students in Vietnam. The results of the ICPC Asia Hue City competition will select one championship team to participate in the Global ICPC Finals 2023 held in Kazakhstan in 9/2024. Additionally, the top 10 outstanding teams out of 65 will participate in the ICPC Asia Pacific Finals 2023 in Hanoi in early 3/2024.

OLP’23, Procon, and ICPC Asia Hue City gathered 612 IT students and over 140 coaches from 79 universities, colleges, and academies nationwide. There were 20 teams with 60 students from 10 prestigious universities in 6 countries: South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Specifically, 436 students participated in the Olympic and Procon events, and 372 students (124 teams) participated in the ICPC Asia Hue City, including 20 teams from 6 Asian countries. The total number of teams participating in all competition categories reached nearly 200 teams competing for team and partner awards.

ICPC is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious international programming contest for students in the IT field. It is also an opportunity for UIT students to demonstrate and hone their problem-solving and programming skills. Since participating in the competition, UIT has won numerous awards at both national and regional levels.

In the INDIVIDUAL SPECIALIZED category: Sending 03 students to participate, including 02 first-year students:

Tran Le Minh - 1st-year student in CS

Nguyen Huu Dang Nguyen - 1st-year student in CS

Nguyen Tran Duy Thien - 2nd-year student in CS

This is the main content of the competition for students who have not won prizes in other national informatics competitions. The number of awards for the Specialized category is determined based on the ranking of students and calculated as a percentage of the number of participating students.

In the SUPER CUP INDIVIDUAL category: This is an unlimited condition for participation. Therefore, participants who have won prizes in other categories in previous years can only participate in this category. This year's Super Cup competition brings together many highly talented participants who have participated and won prizes on various stages from national to international. Moreover, the Super Cup category awards only 10 official prizes (1 gold cup, 2 silver cups, 3 bronze cups, and 4 bronze medals).

UIT Team has selected 5 students to participate in the Super Cup category, including outstanding students who have won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes at the national informatics competition:

Ha Van Hoang - 3rd-year student in CS

Tran Vinh Khanh - 1st-year student in CS

Nguyen Thai Son - 1st-year student in CS

Phan Trong Nhan - 3rd-year student in CS

Tran Van Tan - 1st-year student in CS

Entering the regional qualifiers of the ICPC International Programming Contest: This is a competition within the framework of the International Collegiate Programming Contest, organized according to international standards with teams of 3 members each. All participating teams have gone through online qualifiers to select the most outstanding teams from various schools. In addition, there are teams from Southeast Asian countries - the Pacific to compete for a spot in the World Finals. UIT has sent 5 teams to compete, including:

Additionally, 37 high school teams will compete in ICPC Asia Hue City at 3 locations in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang on December 8, 2023. This is an opportunity for high school students from National High School Informatics teams to practice at the highest level before the National High School Informatics Competition 2023 and prepare to establish Asian Informatics Olympiad (APIO) and International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) teams for the selection season in early 2024!

The competition is run entirely on online scoring systems according to international standards: OLP and ICPC programming competitions on the VNOJ system operated by the Vietnamese Olympic Club, the Procon Japan standard for competitive programming, and the OLP PMNM competition in the form of a Hackathon. All results of the competitions will be announced in real-time, freezing only one hour before the end to ensure result security until the award ceremony on the evening of December 8, 2023.
